A note for a beginner guitarist

Everyone who wants to learn how to masterly play the guitar must know many different things, from tuning the instrument itself to extracting sound from it, including scales, chords and dynamic shades of sound. Understanding all this right away is not easy, but if we talk about basic knowledge for a beginner, which you just can’t do without, then this, of course, is a musical notation.

The basics of musical notation are known to anyone who went to school and did not sleep in music lessons. Therefore, we recall them only in general terms.

Let's start with the musician - these are exactly the five rulers on which the notes are located. Score of musical notes is carried out from the bottom up. That is, the first is at the very bottom, and the fifth is at the top. In addition to the main five, additional rulers are sometimes used, they are short and support only one note. The beginning of the musician traditionally denotes the main symbol of musical notation - the treble clef.

Notes and tones

Music, as you know, seven. I will not repeat them, otherwise it will be a musical notation for children. I hope that this article is read by older people. The notes can be located in different places of the musician: on the lines themselves, between them, and also above or below, with additional lines. The arrangement of notes depends on their octave. The first octave contains notes within five lines: from “to” on the additional bottom to “s” on the third line. The second starts with a "before" between the third and fourth and ends with a "s" above the top additional ruler. Finally, the notes of the small octave are located exclusively on the additional rulers below the musician.

Between each of the adjacent notes (for example, "do" and "re", "la" and "si") there is an interval, which is indicated by the full tone. However, between notes “mi” and “fa” (as well as between “si” and “before” the next octave) is a half-tone interval. In other words, a tone is two notes taken through a fret. Halftone - notes between neighboring frets. Knowing this principle will help you find any note on the fretboard.

Size and Beat

A note for the guitar includes not only the game, but also silence, indicated by pauses. Both notes and pauses have different durations: whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth and thirty second. To indicate the beat of a whole note, you need to stretch it into four counts.

Different note durations during the game are combined in different variations. This is called a musical rhythm. On a stave, the rhythm is indicated by vertical lines dividing five rulers into segments of a certain length. Each of them is called a tact.

Flat and sharp

These signs of alteration, raising and lowering the note by half a half, include the sign of the baker, which cancels the two brothers for alteration at a given measure. For example, if we see a “do” note, in front of which there is a sharp, then we need to take the second string not on the second, but on the third fret. And the flat, say, in front of the note “la”, means that the note will sound with the third string not of the second, like the usual “la”, but of the first fret.

Any musical note will tell you that the sequence of notes when playing the guitar is arranged in a circle from “to” to “si”. Each of them corresponds to its own string. The first and sixth strings (the thinnest and the thickest) are denoted identically by the Latin letter E. The fifth string is A, the second is B, the fourth is D, and the third is G. This is the classical structure of a string guitar.

Of course, this is far from all musical notation, but only its foundations.
