Barabanova Maria Pavlovna - Soviet actress and director, born in the distant 1911. No one was indifferent to her. She was either loved or hated for the complicated character and fanaticism with which she devoted herself to her two main passions - cinema and party. Only a few daredevils decided to fight it - it was simply unreasonable. She knew how to manipulate people with agility, adjusting the situation for herself. But she was a charming little woman with always smiling eyes.
Maria Barabanova: biography - childhood and adolescence
From an early age, Mary came to be known as a terrible fidget. Very often she was kicked out of school for inappropriate behavior. And once it brought her to tears. To which her infinitely loving father said: "Think, they drove out! There are many schools, and you are so alone!" Most likely, it was paternal adoration that served the formation of her obstinate character. After all, all her subsequent life, she did only what she wanted. Arranging a scandal, changing the theater, achieving the coveted roles, arranging someone else's personal life according to one’s mind, is easy. Loved and hated, fought and sought - all this she is doing with sincere faith in her innocence. And she considered her enemies mediocre fools.
Back in 5 years, Maria Barabanova decided that she wants to be an artist, and there was no doubt that she would achieve this.
For a long time she was engaged in amateur performances, but at 16 she firmly decided that she had enough, it was time to perform on a real theater stage. And even despite the lack of special education, she was first accepted to the Leningrad Theater of the Proletcult, and then to the Leningrad Youth Theater, which she left to get an education in the theater college.
Of course, scandal was not avoided there either. Maria studied on the course of the teacher Sushkevich and was even his favorite student. By the end of the training, the students of the course decided to organize the Sushkevich Theater. But Maria was against this idea, motivating it with the fact that the idea was uninteresting and boring, and if you already organize a theater, then it was named after Meyerhold. At that moment, Sushkevich himself entered the office. And one of the students challenged her, asking her to repeat her words, which she did.
After graduating from the distribution, Maria got into the Comedy Theater.
The beginning of a film career
Along with the end of the theater college in 1937, her film career began. Her first role was the postman girl in the film M. Werner and S. Sidelev "Girl in a hurry on a date."
Only two years later, the real fame of the Soviet actress came to her. She got the role of the orderly Timofeyich in the film by Dr. Kalyuzhny, by Erast Garin. Moreover, this film has become a landmark not only for Barabanova, but also for Arkady Raikin, Yanina Zheimo and Yuri Tolubeev.
It's funny that almost the entire crew thought that this role is played by a young guy, and not a real actress. Something similar repeated many years later, Maria so naturally and organically fit into the role that on the set of the film "The Secret of Blackbirds", which was shot in a psychiatric hospital, a passing doctor took her for a real crazy woman.
In 1941, the actress was invited to play two main roles at once in the film "The Prince and the Pauper" - Prince Edward and Tom Kenti. The shooting took place in Moscow. Because of this, Barabanova was simply torn between two cities - Moscow and Leningrad, cinema and theater. When it became especially difficult, she made a choice, and this is a movie. The head of the theater Akimov considered this an unforgivable act, which caused another scandal.
At the film studio, she tried to take part in all matters, even not touching her. Once she found out that one of the artists was cheated on her husband. Barabanova immediately rushed to collect incriminating evidence against him. And having received enough information, I decided to come up with a punishment for him. But during this struggle, friendship was established between them, and she herself helped him settle in the bachelor’s new life. But a few years later, there was a quarrel between them.
She did all this without pursuing any mercenary goals, Mary sacredly believed that her calling was to do good.
War years
Because of her truly strong character, Maria Balobanova sometimes managed to do very important things. During the war, she managed to achieve the transfer of a whole theater from one city to another. At that time, she was in present-day Dushanbe (formerly called Stalinabad) with Gorky's studio, evacuated from Moscow, and once, having received a letter from the Comedy Theater, where the troupe complained about the terrible living conditions in which they found themselves, she went to the secretary of the Central Committee of the Tajik Communist Party and literally achieved the transfer of the theater from Leningrad to Dushanbe.
By 1944, Maria returned to Moscow and remained there forever. She took part in two films - “Paris Fashion” and “Russian Question”. Then for several years she disappeared from the screens. She took up party activities.
Party activity
After leaving the cinema, Maria Pavlovna graduated from the Higher Party School and was appointed secretary of the party organization of the film studio. This was one of the difficult periods in the life of her colleagues. She was so active that many hated her for it. But there were those to whom the new position of the girl benefited.
She was truly devoted to the party. In the case when it seemed to her that a person had no talent or that he had any anti-Party views, she made his existence in the studio unbearable.
While working in the party, Barabanova actively fought for Vasily Shukshin. And only thanks to her assistance, he was able to stay in the staff of the film studio. She also fought desperately for the rights of veterans. Knocked out material help for them, housekeepers and trips - she kept all this under her own control. For which the veterans felt endless gratitude.
Personal life
At the same time, Barabanova decided that it was time to tackle the device and her own personal life. She stubbornly tried to find a man with whom she could find family happiness. The representatives of the stronger sex were crazy about her and sincerely loved her. Maria was married several times and gave birth to a daughter. All this took about 10 years - so much she did not act in films.
Not everything was smooth in the personal life of Maria Barabanova. She was very amorous. She was married 7 times. And she tried to make her men successful. Many of them achieved unprecedented career heights while they were with her. And actors, and journalists, and officials.
Despite her love of love and unconditional influence on men, Maria Pavlovna was an exemplary wife. Each of her husbands literally carried her in her arms. She responded by making personalities of them. From a modest scientific worker, she could fashion a deputy minister. That is usually what happened.
She was able to turn a head to many, for example, Erast Garin and the head of the Republic of Tajikistan. Her bright temperament and forever smiling eyes were like a magnet for men.
Return to the cinema
In 1957, Maria learned about the samples in the movie "Puss in Boots" by Alexander Rowe for the role of a cat. She immediately rushed to the office of someone from the authorities and, banging her fist on the table, exclaimed that it was she who should play this role. And so it happened. Critics praised the actress, but after that, Maria Barabanova temporarily did not act in films.
"Everything is for you"
During the lull, she did something desperate - together with filmmaker Vladimir Sukhobokov, she shot the film "Everything for You." The roles in the film were performed by wonderful artists - Tatyana Peltzer, Rina Zelenaya, Leonid Kuravlev, Olga Aroseva and others.
The plot was based on the story of the heroine Barabanova - Masha Barashkina, who was an instructor of the city executive committee. She completely devoted herself to work for the well-being of her native city, but could not find understanding anywhere: neither among her colleagues, nor among her superiors, and even her lover could not accept this.
By and large, this is an autobiographical film for Mary, because in it she told about herself and about her life. Unfortunately, the film failed. But the goal was achieved - Barabanova returned to the screens.
Age roles
After the release of the film “Everything for You”, Barabanova was again invited to the shooting. These were mainly the roles of mothers, grandmothers, aunts and funny old women. Among them were such paintings as:
- "Finist is a clear falcon";
- "While the clock strikes";
- "Woman in White";
- "Katya" and others.
She especially succeeded in the role of Baba Yaga in the fairy tale "How Ivan the Fool Went for a Miracle."
The last role was a Jewish bandera in the film "We Go to America" by Efim Gribov in 1992. In 1993, she Maria Barabanova passed away after a serious illness, leaving behind a few but vivid roles and legends about her obstinate and difficult character.
