Pharmacological action of the drug

Sub simplex belongs to the group of carminative drugs. The drug is able to reduce surface tension at the interface between the two phases, while complicating the formation, and in addition, contributing to the destruction of gas bubbles in the contents of the intestine. Gases that are excreted during the passage of the drug can be either absorbed by the walls of the intestine, or excreted from the body by peristalsis.

Thanks to the drug, during the X-ray examination, all interference is minimized, as well as the overlap of the image with gas bubbles. The drug prevents the breakage of the contrast film, due to improved irrigation of the colon mucosa with a contrast agent.

In addition, the drug is able to change the surface tension of gas bubbles, which are formed in the intestinal mucus and in the contents of the stomach, and it also contributes to the destruction of these gas bubbles. The drug does not enter into any chemical reactions in the digestive tract, all its pharmacological actions occur only due to physical characteristics.

Pharmacokinetics

The sub simplex is not absorbed into the body at all, due to its chemical and physical inertness, therefore, after the drug passes through the digestive tract, it is excreted unchanged along with feces.

Dosage and recommended doses:

  • Increased gas formation. Sub simplex can be given to infants, while adding 15 drops to a drinking bottle. The drug can be mixed with milk or other liquids.
    Older children and adults need to take 20 to 45 drops, and it is best before bedtime, after eating. You can also combine taking the drug with food.
  • Preparation for diagnostic tests. In order to prepare for an X-ray or ultrasound examination, you need to take several teaspoons of the drug a day before it. In the case of ultrasound, it is necessary to take the drug and 3 hours before the start of the study - this will allow the diagnostician to make out all the organs without interfering air bubbles.
  • Detergent poisoning. In case of poisoning with detergents, you can take the minimum dose of the drug - one teaspoon. But everything can depend on the severity of poisoning - in especially severe cases, you should not rely only on the effect of the drug, it is urgent to get medical help.

Indications

  • gas formation;
  • flatulence;
  • preparation for gastrointestinal studies;
  • poisoning with detergents, if they got into the stomach.

Apart from preparations for diagnostic studies, the fight against flatulence is the best use of a drug such as sub simplex. Analogues of this drug in the fight against bloating are espumisan and other similar drugs.
