This drug is not intended for oral administration, as in this case it is destroyed. Indications for use
This drug is intended for use in the presence of such diseases:
- peritonitis, sepsis, endocarditis;
- it is used in the presence of infections of the respiratory tract, as well as in case of infection of the genitourinary tract;
- syphilis and gonorrhea are also indications for its use;
- to fight infections that affect bones and joints;
- for the prevention of complications after various operations.

The specified drug is available in the form of a powder of white or slightly yellowish color, which is intended for intramuscular and intravenous administration.
Mode of application
The specified drug is administered only in a jet or drip. For adults, the daily dose should be from 0.25 to 1 gram, it is found up to 4 times a day, but no more than 6 grams. Treatment with Cefazolin (injections) can last up to 10 days.
In order to carry out prophylaxis an hour before the start of the operation, it is recommended to administer 1 gram of the drug intravenously, up to 1 gram is also administered during the operation, and after its completion, 0.5 to 1 gram of this drug should be administered every 8 hours during the day.
For children from the age of 1 month, the daily dose should not be more than 25-50 mg / kg, in especially severe cases it can be increased to 100 mg / kg and is also found 3-4 times.
In order to prepare the medicine “Cefazolin” (injections) take 0.5 mg of the drug and dissolve in 2-4 ml of sterile water, if administered intramuscularly, it can be diluted in novocaine. If the drug is administered iv, then it is diluted with 5 ml of water and administered for 5 minutes. When administered dropwise, this agent is diluted in a 5% or 10% dextrose solution, which is taken in 50-100 ml, or in a 0.9% sodium chloride solution, Ringer's solution or sodium bicarbonate solution.
Before the introduction of the drug, “Cefazolin” in ampoules must be shaken vigorously and for a long time to mix well.
Side effects
After this drug is used, the following side effects may occur: bronchospasm, urticaria, itching, anaphylactic shock, abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea or constipation, stomatitis, pseudomembranous enterocolitis, genital itching, glossitis, candidiasis, phlebitis, anal itching , granulocytopenia, hemolytic, anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, soreness along the vein and superinfection.
Contraindications
The drug "Cefazolin" (injections) is not prescribed for pregnant women and newborns, with intolerance to the drugs of the cephalosporin group, as well as beta-lactam antibiotics.

Drug interaction
