Chewing gum "Tipi Type" - greetings from childhood

Those whose childhood passed at the turn of the eighties and nineties of the last century are familiar with the Tipi Tip chewing gum. In the days of the former Union, it was very popular.

Product Description

Chewing gum "Tipi Type", like everyone else, is a confectionery product, consisting of two parts:

  • rubber, which is its elastic, but inedible basis;
  • aromatic and flavoring additives.

In principle, this is the standard composition of any chewing gum, regardless of shape or type. After all, they do not eat it, but use it, as a rule, for entertainment. A few seconds after use, the rubber base becomes very plastic and you can even blow out bubbles of various sizes from it.

In addition, Tipi Tip chewing gum has always been distinguished by its excellent taste. Moreover, it persisted even after prolonged use. A child could chew such gum for hours. And all this time it tasted almost like new. Older people, of course, perfectly remember this unforgettable aroma. But today he evokes in them only nostalgic memories of that time, which, unfortunately, cannot be returned. And chewing gum itself is increasingly used as the simplest means of hygiene.

Interesting to know

Many do not even suspect that the first prototype of modern chewing gum appeared in Finland about five millennia ago. Later analogues of this product appeared in many countries of the world. True, all of them at that time were used exclusively for cleaning teeth and refreshing breathing.

For example, the ancient Greeks took beeswax for this, and representatives of the Mayan tribe took rubber. On an industrial scale, chewing gum began to be produced only in the middle of the 19th century. In 1848, twenty-year-old American John Curtis did this. Over time, he gained a lot of followers. Finally, about half a century ago, the Turkish confectionery company Kent Gida took up this. It was in his production shops that the Tipi Type chewing gum was created. Exporting a new product made good profit. New products were delivered to many countries of the world, including the USSR, where they were very popular. Over time, the company changed its focus and is currently more engaged in the production of sweets.

Appearance

What did the Tipi Type chewing gum look like then? Photos and even the originals of such a product today can only be found among collectors. This is a rectangular product in the shape of a classic pillow, packaged in a bright wrap.

On its front side was the name of the product depicted in capital letters (Tipi Tip). Under it was written balonlu ciklet, which is translated from Turkish as chewing gum, and on top is the name of the company (Kent). For his product, the manufacturer came up with a hero. They became a funny little man in glasses with a funny long nose. It was pictured next to the product name.

Depending on the flavor of chewing gum, the background and color of the costume of the protagonist changed. True, today this product goes on sale in a new format. This is a cardboard box with an opening valve, inside of which there are 14 plates. But mostly Turkish babies can enjoy them. This product practically does not arrive abroad.

Funny pictures

But many children were attracted not only by the Tipi Tip gum itself. The liners, which were under the wrapper, became for them the subject of collecting and exchange. In fact, it was a kind of "children's currency." Moreover, even the then ruble itself could envy its stability. Each insert has its own price. The children exchanged them among themselves, striving to create the most complete collections in themselves.

The inserts depicted the very long-nosed eccentric with whom each story had its own story. It was something like a mini-comic book in which the main character got into a variety of funny situations. The owners of these inserts today continue to do what they love. There are numerous forums where some are looking for new items, while others are also trying to replenish their collections by selling duplicates that they have. By the way, not only children are engaged in this. Many adults over time have not been able to give up their favorite activities.

True legends

Chewing gum "Turbo", "Tipi Type", "Donald" and many others were especially in demand in the nineties of the twentieth century. At first they were brought to the Soviet Union illegally. And then, thanks to the mass movement of the โ€œshuttlesโ€, they appeared in every kiosk.

There was a real boom of chewing gum. Children forgot about sweets and cakes. The most desirable delicacy for many of them was precisely the popular chewing gum. But each product at the same time had its own target audience.

โ€œTurboโ€ was bought mainly by boys, as under the wrapper were pictures depicting various types of cars. Girls were happy to collect stories with a cool little man or an unlucky duckling. Parents of such collectors had a hard time. After all, kids every day asked them to buy chewing gum in anticipation of new pictures. Despite the fact that a lot of time has passed since the appearance of these products in our country, interest in them is constantly growing.
