Andrei Dymov is a young investigator who goes on a business trip to the city of Stepny Kurgan. There he intends to find the missing colleague and friend. Together with Dymov, his wife Katerina goes on this trip. In this city, the Steppe Wolves gang is in charge of all affairs.
It is led by the Volkov family clan. In order to conduct an investigation, Andrey has to take into account the rules of the game established by the bandits and make very ambiguous compromises.
