In July, the Russia 1 television channel launched the screening of the crime series The Crime directed by television director Maxim Vasilenko, known for the projects Ensign Shmatko, or Yo-mine and Revelation, with Pavel Priluchny (Major) and Daria Moroz (“ House with lilies ") in the lead roles. According to the director, he could not refuse to adapt the terrific Scandinavian dramaturgy and the complex psychodramatic history underlying the script.
The domestic product was based on the Danish-Swedish multi-part television movie “Murder”, which gained immense popularity not only in European countries, but also in America, where an adaptation version of this format was released. At the current stage of the film “Crime” (2017), the reviews of critics characterize it as a literal adaptation of the Scandinavian original, which turned out to be depressingly gray and almost toothless. However, the hope for a breakthrough still remains, despite the fact that the pilot episodes do not contain a special initiative from the creators.
About the plot without spoiler
Almost all reviews of the film "Crime", left by film experts, subjected to a detailed analysis of the plot component of the project. It all starts with the fact that the main character of Alexander Moskvin (Daria Moroz) is working on her last duty in a provincial coastal town before being transferred to the capital. By accident, it was on this day that a number of disturbing events took place - elements of women's clothing were found in the scam, a local girl Tatyana was reported missing, and a drowned car with a corpse in the trunk was found in a nearby water body. To all the experienced operative, you need to quickly introduce the newcomer Andrei Chistyakov (Pavel Priluchny) to the course . Naturally, Chistyakova was forced to linger, and in the meantime, the murder investigation was being pulled into a tight knot, tightly linking the private and political life of local oligarchs and students.
The film “Crime” (2017) carries such an exciting intrigue. Who killed Tanya, the reviews, of course, are silent. The authors only hint that many local residents are embroiled in the tragedy, and the disclosure of the case threatens to turn into a real drama. Each new day of the operatives' work is a new series.
Almost carbon paper
The film "Crime" with Daria Moroz received not very enthusiastic reviews, perhaps because it does not have a unique zest. Indeed, in certain branches of art, in order to improve artistic skills, the copying technique is used. The method is aimed at polishing the skills of novice creators so that they absorb all the wisdom of the author of the original, and then, after developing them, individualize.
But this technique is acceptable in painting, architectural design and photography, but not in cinema. Modern domestic television people and partly film makers often follow the path of least resistance, depriving their creations of a unique zest.
That is why the reviews of the film Crime, written in a skeptical way, call the adaptation of the European series in the Russian format artless and tangibly simplified. However, far from many managed to repeat the success of the original project. The most successful adaptation, according to world critics, is “Murder” from the Fox channel, where M. Inos and Yu. Kinnaman played the main roles. The remaining attempts could not reach the level of Scandinavian television workers, including the domestic product, shot by M. Vasilenko.
Main snag
Reviews of the film "Crime" the main problem called the complete incompatibility of mentality and everyday experience of the audience. The Vasilenko project repeats the mistakes of many other Russian remakes of well-known foreign telenovelas like the Lungin “Homeland” and “How I Met Your Mother”. The domestic audience simply does not understand how a port worker can afford a loft, how our cops can meet Interpol standards. But for the audience, the confluence of politics and business, dirty intrigues on the eve of the elections look authentic.
Special atmosphere
But reviews of the film "Crime" with Priluchny praise the visualization of the series. The role of the remote coastal city, in which the story unfolds, was played by Kaliningrad. By the way, the shooting of “Plaque”, another adaptation, in this case, the French television hit, was recently completed in it. Due to the climatic features of the selected place, the authors managed to maintain a special atmosphere. Weather and gloomy, mostly gray colors create a special sense of hopelessness and devastation, a much-needed story that underlies the plot.
The strongest ensemble of actors
Also, reviews of the film "Crime" mark a strong acting ensemble of the series. The leading roles are played by real stars of Russian cinema - D. Moroz, P. Priluchny, L. Artemyev, A. Smolyakov, A. Khmelnitskaya, A. Chernyshov, I. Kostolevsky, P. Trubiner, V. Yumatov and others. However, sometimes it seems that the actors are restrained by the creators, who decisively copy not only the plot component, but also the images of the characters. Therefore, outstanding performers do not have to demonstrate the full range of their talents, but imitate Scandinavian actors.
As a way to familiarize yourself with the beautiful
Although there is hope that still the creators of the film tried not in vain, despite the fact that many scolded the series for nothing, comparing it with adaptation. But American television people dared to change the ending of the Scandinavian original. And the Russian format has much more episodes, and judging by the reviews, many people really like it. And despite the fact that the premiere has already taken place, disputes between telephones have not subsided so far. So over time, it will become clear whether Vasilenko’s project will continue to remain a copy, an ingenious repetition, or whether the scriptwriters of the Rossiya television channel managed to impress sophisticated fans of television detectives. In any case, even with the most depressing scenario, the creators of the project should be praised for at least an attempt to adapt. Suddenly, the viewer, having watched the Russian “Crime”, would like to compare it with the European original and start watching the latter? This is also a certain way of introducing compatriots to the beautiful art of cinema, albeit a little sad and awkward.
