By the name "pruritus" is meant a dermatological disease. Its main symptoms are intolerable itching and the presence of nodular rashes. Pruritus, the symptoms of which cause quite uncomfortable sensations, can be observed in both adults and babies.

Other names for the pathology are strofulus, children's urticaria. As a rule, the disease is diagnosed in children under three years of age. The main reason for its occurrence is considered allergic diathesis associated with the introduction of new foods. Also, the disease can occur after the use of certain medications.

In medicine, there are three forms of the disease: chronic, nodular and acute. Moreover, quite often the disease is accompanied by the appearance of a secondary infection. Knotty pruritus, the symptoms of which are quite painful, can be troubling for several years. Its characteristic features are large rashes (up to 2 centimeters in diameter) on the hips, legs and forearms. As a rule, papules are covered with bloody crusts. Affected areas are constantly painfully itchy. Another form of the disease is acute pruritus. Symptoms of the disease are also associated with discomfort and rash. Papules, as a rule, arise on the extensor surface of the legs, forearms, as well as on the buttocks and abdomen. They are small itchy nodules of a pale pink color. When combing, they are covered with crusts. Recovery may not occur until four months. Delaying the treatment process usually leads to a chronic form of the disease. In this case, lichenification sites form on the skin. Exacerbation of the disease occurs in summer and spring, and in women - during pregnancy.

To relieve itching, a dermatologist prescribes local ointments - applications (boron-naphthalan, ichthyol, etc.), sedatives and drugs that reduce sensitivity, as well as vitamin complexes. Very useful pasta, which contains tar. Herbal and sulfide baths do an excellent job of itching. An important place in the treatment of pruritus is physiotherapy (ultrasound, diadynamic therapy, microwaves). In the treatment of pathology, it is very important to avoid physical exertion and overwork. For a while, you should refrain from eating spices, chocolate, smoked meats and sweets. Also, special attention should be paid to quality sleep.
Prevention
In fact, pruritus does not pose a serious danger to human life and health, but it is a very unpleasant disease. To prevent the occurrence of an ailment, a hypoallergenic diet is prescribed, deworming is carried out, stress prevention. In the presence of chronic foci of infection, their rehabilitation is recommended.
