Teratozoospermia treatment

Unfortunately, in the modern world, couples are more and more often eager to conceive a child, but for some reason they fail to do this. In this case, it is necessary to undergo an appropriate examination not only for the woman, but also for the man. After all, families often face the problem of male infertility or the presence of sperm pathology. One of these diseases is teratozoospermia. Do not be afraid of this diagnosis, you just need to contact a qualified specialist. The andrologist at the consultation will explain in detail how teratozoospermia is treated.

This disease means that in male sperm the number of abnormal sperm, that is, with any pathologies and abnormalities, is more than half of the total mass. It is worth remembering that the treatment of teratozoospermia exists and is able to give a good result in a fairly short time. Until now, scientists have not come to a consensus on the issue of establishing the causes of this disease, therefore, the adverse environment, the presence of infections in the body, and even genetic factors can affect the structure of sperm . To the list of reasons, some experts add the presence of acute diseases or taking potent drugs.

Naturally, damaged sperm cells are not able to fertilize an egg, which means that the more they are, the less likely it is to conceive successfully. If we talk about the standards, that is, the number of sperm capable of fertilization, then there is also no uniform standard for everyone. It is conventionally accepted that in each medical institution specializing in this problem, this standard is set independently, in a percentage ratio.

As a rule, in medical practice, the treatment of teratozoospermia is associated with the treatment of asthenozoospermia, because these diseases accompany each other. The latter suggests a low rate of sperm movement. The close proximity of diseases is due to the affinity of the causes that provoke them. Each doctor is obliged to notify the patient about how he treats teratozoospermia and in what time frame he expects to get a positive result. After all, as you know, usually this happens three months later, or even earlier.

If the couple is set to conceive and does not want to wait so much time, or in the case of a severe form of the disease, experts advise resorting to the method of in vitro fertilization in combination with ICSI or IMSI. The ICSI procedure involves additional fertilization of the egg, and the IMSI procedure consists in conducting an additional examination of sperm and selecting the best sperm. This method allows you to get better sperm, which will ensure one hundred percent conception. But in any case, treatment of teratozoospermia is necessary, as the disease progresses constantly, which means further infertility. The longer to ignore the disease, the less chance the spouses have to conceive a baby on their own.

There are cases when, after completing the full course of treatment, the clinical picture pleases both the specialist and the spouses, but after a few years everything returns to normal. That is, the possibility of a relapse of such a disease exists. In this case, it is possible to re-treat teratozoospermia or, if the disease is not started, the in vitro fertilization procedure using existing sperm. Often, conception with such material is quite possible, because sperm are cleaned and selected in the laboratory, that is, they improve its quality.

Thus, if you have been diagnosed with teratozoospermia, then you should not despair. Indeed, with this disease, with proper treatment, you can give birth to a healthy, strong baby, and sometimes several at once.
