Burritos can rightly be considered a traditional Mexican dish. It is very popular not only in Mexico, but also in many other countries of Latin America. At the same time, it is often compared with an American hot dog or with a Caucasian shawarma, although if you look closely at the cooking recipe, you can immediately see significant differences.
When preparing a burrito, it is necessary to take into account the fact that almost all recipes of
Mexican cuisine use a large number of hot spices or seasonings. Therefore, if you do not like very spicy food, then you should use spices to your taste, and not by prescription.
There are many recipes for making burritos. At the same time, they differ from each other both in the method of preparation and in the ingredients. However, this particular recipe for burritos can be considered one of the most common and optimal for the products used.
To make chicken burritos, you will need the most common ingredients found in every refrigerator. Their proportion is calculated on six standard portions.
Ingredients:
- boiled chicken fillet - 2 pcs.;
- fresh tomatoes - 2 pcs.;
- mushrooms (preferably ceps, but champignons may come up) - 200 g;
- bell pepper - 2 pcs.;
- garlic - 2 cloves;
- sunflower oil (for frying) - 50 g;
- onion - 2 pcs.,
- pita - 6 pcs.;
- hard cheese - 150 g;
- parsley - 1 bunch;
- salt;
- pepper.
Cooking
To cook a burrito with chicken, you need to chop the chicken, mushrooms and onions into small cubes. You should also do with tomatoes and bell peppers, but first you should peel them. To do this, tomatoes can be doused with boiling water, and lightly fry the pepper.
A further cooking process for chicken burritos is to fry all the ingredients. Each of them should be added one after another in strict sequence.
First, pour a little oil into the pan, on which we fry the onion until golden brown. After that, add finely chopped garlic, which we fry with onions for three minutes. Next, for a burrito with chicken, you need to add the chicken fillet, which is also fried with other ingredients for about three minutes.
After the chicken fillet, you need to add mushrooms to the pan, which need to be fried for five minutes, and after them - bell pepper. After
bell pepper , chicken and burritos must be salted and pepper, and then add tomatoes and herbs. The resulting filling should be fried for about three more minutes, after which it can be considered finished.
A further cooking process is to wrap the filling in pita bread. To do this, spread the filling in the center of the pita leaf and sprinkle it with plenty of grated cheese. After that, pita bread is wrapped in the manner of shawarma, but sometimes the edges are left open. Although you can wrap it in any other way, the main thing is that the dish does not crumble later.
To complete the preparation of a burrito, it must be put in the oven to let the cheese melt. At the same time, some chefs add cheese to the top. In a few minutes the burrito will be ready.
