Summary
In the twelfth century, England was torn apart by civil strife immersed in a deep pool of political unrest. The ruling monarch is killed, the new king has not been determined, all those close to the throne begin a fierce struggle for the right to take an empty throne. King Henry I (actor Clive Wood) loses the only heir who dies in a shipwreck. His second child - daughter Matilda (actress Alison Pill) has no right to take the throne, only her heir, and then after reaching the age of 18. Soon, Henry also perishes at the hands of ill-wishers, power, at the insistence of the bishop (actor Gordon Pinsent), passes to Stephen Bloissky (actor Tony Carran), nephew of the late monarch.
