Ken Davityan is an American actor of Armenian descent. Best known for her role as television producer Azamat Bagatov in Borat's satirical comedy by Sasha Baron Cohen. Also appeared in several successful comedy series as a guest star and played a small role in the Oscar-winning film "Artist". In total, during his career he participated in 116 projects.
Childhood and youth
Ken Davityan was born on June 19, 1953 in Montebello, California. The father of the future actor during the Great Patriotic War served in the Soviet army and was captured by German troops and placed in the Wehrmacht Armenian Legion: a military formation consisting of soldiers of Armenian origin. After the war ended, with the assistance of the American philanthropist of Armenian origin George Mardikyan, Ken Davityan's father moved to the United States.
In his youth, the future actor worked for a waste management company owned by his father. After graduating from high school, he entered Wittier College. He decided to become an actor following the example of his idol Bert Reynolds. Later, Ken Davityan played along with his idol in the black comedy The Pocket Transaction.
Actor career
The actor began acting in the nineties, however, these were mostly episodic roles in television series and low-budget films. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, Ken Davityan began to receive more significant roles, and even appeared in the successful multi-part crime drama “Shield” and the police action movie “SWAT Special Forces of the City of Angels”.
A real breakthrough for the actor was the comedy film of the 2006 release of Borat. The film of the famous British comedian Sasha Baron Cohen became a real hit at the international box office and gained cult status, and Ken Davityan became a recognizable and sought-after actor.
In the next few years, he appeared in the successful television projects Boston Lawyers and Chuck, as well as in the full-length comedy Meet the Spartans and Get Smart. One of the most successful and critically acclaimed films with Ken Davityan is the silent comedy “Artist”, stylized as paintings from the beginning of the last century. The film won an Oscar in the Best Film category in 2011.
In recent years, Davityan continues to work actively on television. He appeared as a guest star in the successful sitcoms Two and a Half Men and Philadelphia It's Always Sunny, and in 2018 he played one of the roles in the Cobra Kai web series, which is a continuation of the Karate Boy series. Also engaged in producing, in this capacity he worked on two short films and one series. At the moment, about ten projects with the participation of the actor are in production.
Personal life and hobbies
Ken Davityan has been married to Ellen Bako since 1977. The couple has two children. In addition to English, the actor is fluent in Armenian.
In 2003, the actor opened the Deep Restaurant in Los Angeles, which specializes in preparing French sandwiches. Davityan himself acted as a chef. He also founded a baseball themed restaurant serving exclusively hot dogs, along with his son Robert, who runs the establishment. One of the hot dogs on the menu was invented personally by actor Charlie Sheen.
