Hannibal Lecturer is a legendary character born on the pages of Thomas Hariss books. The screen versions in which this bloodthirsty and damn smart maniac subsequently appears never went unnoticed. The image of Hannibal at the same time scares, intrigues and causes a lot of conflicting emotions.
Brief characterization of the hero
The essence of Hannibal is very multifaceted. He is a psychiatrist, an intellectual, a serial maniac, and, of course, a devourer of victims. He is both a tightly turned psychopath and a completely cultured educated person. Brilliant abilities allow him to do terrible things and drive even the most discerning detectives by the nose. Few people are able to compete with him, not to mention being sent to jail. Hannibal is the embodiment of evil, against which only his kind can play.
Creation, a series of books
Lecturer "father" is considered writer Thomas Harris. It was in his mind that the idea arose to create a terribly controversial hero who would both admire the height of his IQ and make him addicted to cannibalism to shake with horror. As a result, Thomas published four novels: Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Hannibal: Ascension. Books turned out to be a real breakthrough, they immediately rushed to film. Absolutely all the actors who played Hannibal Lector in the films and series in this role were very believable.
Brian Cox: first on screen
The first actor to play the role of Hannibal Lector was Brian Cox in 1986. The picture "The Manhunter" was put on the book "The Red Dragon" directed by Michael Mann (originally the script was to be written by David Lynch). The action spins on the capture of a suddenly appeared killer (nicknamed "Tooth Fairy"), who keeps the whole city in fear and leaves no evidence. To cope with the daunting task, the FBI agent has to turn for help to the villain of the villains - Hannibal Lector.
Anthony Hopkins: Lecturer Everyone Knows
No one is so associated with the image of a bloodthirsty genius as the cult actor Anthony Hopkins. He played this role in three parts of the saga and was so magnificent that he became the best Hannibal Lecturer in the history of cinema. The American community has come to call it "the number one cinema villain of all time." Hitting the goosebumps acting, a piercing steel look and an absolutely believable merger with the role helped Hopkins win the Academy Award for Best Actor in the film โSilence of the Lambsโ in 1991 (although he is present on the frames for just over 15 minutes!).
Gaspard Ulliel: Lecturer of the New Time
In 2007, a new film about a grand serial killer was released. "Hannibal: Ascent" is fully based on the book of the same name, the fourth in a row. Here, director Peter Webber told the audience the early history of Hannibal, covering childhood, personality development and possible causes of mental disorders. Anthony Hopkins could no longer be the actor playing the role of the young Hannibal Lector, so she was captured by the promising French actor Gaspard Ulliel.
Hannibal: multi-part version
The creators of the American series "Hannibal" decided to expand the story of the cult character and tell it as much as possible, in several episodes. The author of the project is Brian Fuller. The plot is not far from the book: Agent Graham and Dr. Lector also join forces to capture the "Tooth Fairy" maniac. Mads Mikkelsen - who took on the difficult role of Hannibal Lector actor. The series is not for the faint of heart - it contains frankly bloody scenes. And each episode bears the names of various dishes - a sort of satire, taking into account the taste preferences of the protagonist.
The main actors of the series "Hannibal Lecturer":
- Mads Mikkelsen / Dr. Hannibal Lecturer;
- Hugh Dancy / FBI Agent Will Graham;
- Lawrence Fishburne / Jack Crawford;
- Carolyn Davernas / Dr. Alana Bloom.
PS The project also featured Gillian Anderson, the star of The X-Files.
