Gamma in G Major. G major: sheet music

The key in G Major (G-dur, G-Major) is in music not only one of the simplest, but also the most popular. This gamut and its constituent main notes are widely used by many musicians: from Viennese classics to the present. The major distribution of G major was among guitarists and pianists. The fingering of playing gamma, arpeggio and chords is completely simple. Even beginners can use it, not to mention the fact that G major with parallel minor is just perfect for the voice data of most people.

Key signs and notes

In the gamut in G Major itself there is one key sign - “F sharp”. This only means that the pure note “fa” is played and sounds half a tone higher. As in any major, in G major the notes follow the same principle of constructing the gamma in the ratio of tones and half tones: tone-tone-half-tone-tone-tone-tone-half-tone.

In the role of the main note or tonic is the note “salt”. From it, the further construction of the gamut is carried out. So, the whole gamma in G major appears in ascending order in the following sequence: salt (G) / la (A) / si (H) / to (C) / pe (D) / mi (E) / F-sharp (F #). As you know, the main steps in any key are the first (tonic), fourth (subdominant) and fifth (dominant). In our case, these are the notes “salt”, “do” and “re”. At the first stage, a tonic triad (sol-si-re) is built, at the fourth - a subdominant triad (do-mi-sol), and at the fifth - a subdominant triad (re-fa # -la). Accordingly, chords consisting of four notes are also built on the same steps. If the first two chords use an octave range during construction, then the third chord, called the dominant september chord, has a small septima, that is, the chord ends on the note “do”, which joins the main dominant triad from above.

Types of scale in G Major

Along with the main key sign, additional ones may be present in the gamut. First of all, this applies to varieties of major scales. In this case, the main key sign is used only in natural major. One should also distinguish between harmonic major and melodic major. As a rule, such scales are used infrequently in music, nevertheless they are able to give mystery and psychedelic richness to musical works.

In the harmonic major, the sixth step, that is, the note "e." In melodic major there are already two lowered levels: the sixth and the seventh. The notes “E” go down to “E-flat” and “F-sharp” to a clean “F”.

Piano chords

People who are even a little familiar with the piano should not have difficulty in playing the scale or chords in the key in G Major. The only thing worth paying attention to is fingering. For example, the main triads are performed using the first, third and fifth fingers on the right hand.

A full chord uses the first, second, third and fifth fingers. The key in G Major, like other elements of harmony, also implies special treatment of the main chords, in which the first note of the triad is shifted an octave higher. As can be seen from the above, each triad has two calls.

Playing Chords on a Guitar

Another thing is when G major is played on the guitar. This instrument is characterized by its own specific construction of chords. As the simplest example, you can use standard fingering, especially since the G major chord itself is one of the simplest.

First we clamp the fifth string in the second fret, then the sixth and first string in the third fret. In this embodiment, you can also add clamping of the second string to the third fret. In this form, in the chord instead of the note "si" on the second string there will be a note "re".

In addition to this, it can be used to extract the chord in G Major and the barre technique, when the first finger of the left hand completely covers the neck with all six strings in the third fret. Accordingly, the third string on the fourth fret, the fifth string on the fifth fret and the fourth string on the sixth fret are then clamped with the second finger. In the case of playing the guitar, it should be borne in mind that the numbering of the fingers does not begin with the thumb, but with the index.

Parallel minor

This key uses the E minor as a parallel, in which there is exactly the same key sign. The difference in additional signs is manifested only in the construction of harmonic and melodic scales. So, in the E minor, unlike the major, the steps do not decrease, but increase by a half tone. In the harmonic minor, the seventh step is increased, and the gamma is played without any increase. In the melodic minor, things are more complicated. When the gamma is played in ascending order, the sixth and seventh steps are increased, and in a downward game, pure notes are already used. If we show this with an example, then the performance of the harmonic E minor will look like this (up and down): mi-fa # -sol-la-si-do # -re # -mi-re (bekar) -do (bekar) -si -a-sol-fa # -m. In this case, a baker means canceling the use of the sharp sign (#), that is, a clean note sounds without an increase of half a tone.

The convenience of use

As for the use of G major and E minor, such combinations can be found in many works. For example, in the classic sonata in G major is very common. Even Haydn, Bach, Mozart, Schubert and others wrote works of such a plan.

Nowadays, these two keys are mainly used by guitarists. Firstly, the combination of the main chords is performed very simply, and secondly, even novice musicians start learning the chord technique from them. Well, and thirdly, these keys are universal for female and male voices.

If you look at rock music, you will notice that even from the time of its inception, when playing the guitar with fifths with a drive, these chords and keys were used as the main ones. It is only now that bands performing Black Metal, Gothic Metal, Doom Metal, or something like that, began to rebuild their instruments in lowered tones such as D minor or minor. Rock classics, as a rule, are performed on the basis of quint chords with the basis on the note “e”.

Conclusion

In general, the key in G Major is simple enough not only to study, but also to master the technique of playing many instruments. This is facilitated not only by the minimum content of key characters, but also by the ease of use musically. Among other things, the main range of gamma is perfectly suited to the main range of human voice . However, this does not mean at all that you need to strictly follow the rules and use only those notes that are present in the key. Experiments can often lead to the most unexpected results, which is why a piece of music will only win and become much more interesting.
