“Slipknot” without masks - on the other side of the scene ...

The music of Slipknot is a mixture of Korn and Marlyn Manson, it can be described as nu-metal - a new kind of heavy music that emerged in the late 90s and spread first in the USA and then around the world. Slipknot fans call themselves maggots, and the lyrics are nihilistic and gloomy pictures of the darkest sides of the human soul. The group performs exclusively in stage costumes, so that “Slipknot” without masks for a long time was seen, perhaps, only by friends and relatives of the musicians themselves.

Slipknot without masks

A group was formed in the small American town of Des Moines back in 1995, while the composition was unstable, and the group still could not find their style. However, Slipknot soon received its current name and several regular members who did not leave the group until the very end. Here are their names:

  • 0 - Joy Jordison, one of the most talented drummers of our time;
  • 1 - Paul Gray, bass;
  • 2 - Chris Fen, percussionist;
  • 3 - James Routh, guitarist;
  • 4 - Craig Jones, responsible for the samples;
  • 5 - Sean Krahan, also known as the "Clown", a percussionist and, perhaps, the most eccentric of the entire composition of Slipknot;
  • 6 - Mick Thompson, guitar;
  • 7 - Corey Taylor, vocals.

The group also includes Sid Wilson, who plays the role of a DJ, but for some reason he was not assigned a serial number.

Like all beginner groups, Slipknot began their creative activity in their hometown, where, by the way, neither their music nor their style was perceived properly. At the very beginning of their careers, the guys precisely determined the development vector of the Slipknot group, then photos without masks could not be found even on the most advanced fan sites close to the group. Despite the rather cool welcome of the native audience, the group still accumulated the necessary amount for the release of their debut album entitled "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat." There was only enough money for 1000 copies, but this was enough to attract the attention of influential people in show business. Soon, the band entered into a contract with Roadrunner Records, and from that moment began the rise of “Slipknot” to the music podium.

The next step for the group was cooperation with a well-known producer, under whose guidance the group released the album of the same name in 1999, after which it went to conquer the famous Ozzfest festival. Should I say that “Slipknot” without masks was never seen at the festival, with the exception of a few people close to the group? The second album of the group was more than successful, having received platinum status. After that, the group went on tour, where they found an even more extensive army of fans.

The band released their next album "Iowa" in 2001, but its success was less deafening. After a short tour and performance at Ozzfest, where, again, the Slipknot group did not appear without masks, the guys went on a short vacation. At this time, some participants created side projects, which also won the popularity of maggot and other heavy music lovers, and in 2002, a DVD with an enchanting performance of the group in London came to the delight of fans. Since the creation of side projects, finding photos of Slipknot participants without masks has become more real, since even the band's vocalist began performing without the stage costume inherent in Slipknot.

After Corey Taylor founded Stone Sour, disagreements began to appear in the team. Several times the guys announced the dissolution of the group, but the love of music still overcame the misunderstandings in the team, and fans of heavy metal can still enjoy the “anti-human lyrics” and the truly “hellish” music of their favorite team.
