At the end of February 2005, the STS television channel began showing the 12-episode television movie Multiplying Sorrow. Such a mysteriously romantic name hid the action-packed detective series, based on the novel by George Weiner with the same name. In each series, Russian actors showed the versatility of human nature.
Multiplying Sorrow, a mid-2000 series, can be attributed to a saga about people with big bucks. Under the well-tuned microscope of the famous writer, the so-called “new Russians” with their passions “right along Shakespeare” fell.
Storyline
Many years ago, as children, these three children played and spent almost every day together. They were sure that it would always be so. But after many years of strong childhood friendship, only ridiculous nicknames that they once used to call each other, playing the Indians - Boy Cat, Faithful Horse and Tricky Dog - were remembered. Fate decreed that all the men went their separate ways.
There were dizzying scams in their lives, and they turned them so masterly that it seemed simply impossible. But a lot of money became a cruel test for friendly feelings, which was the reason for the breakup. Money, weapons, envy were gradually divided and alienated the grown children from each other. But the main reason for the separation of friends was the love of one woman.
Many years later. One of his friends, Sergey Ordyntsev (Faithful Horse), became an officer of Interpol; the second, Alexei Serebrovsky (Tricky Dog) - an oligarch; the third, Konstantin Boyko (Boy Cat) - is an ex-Olympic champion.
Each character trait was carefully worked out and the actors brought their personal impressions to the filming process. "Multiplying Sorrow" has become one of the best series in the mid-2000s.
Friends, rivals or enemies?
Two of the three friends begin a serious showdown: one wants to avenge the other for a warped life. They came to that line beyond which friends would no longer be just rivals, but sworn enemies. Gradually, everything goes to the fact that a murder is being plotted. And then between two friends you have to become the third.
The girl, because of which such a bonfire of passions flared up, becomes a husband's wife. But a rich life, as it turned out, does not give all-consuming happiness. And this is far from all the plot twists that the series “Multiplying Sorrow” displayed. Actors and roles they performed in the picture, so merged together that when observing the filming process from the side, it might seem that the main characters are friends not only on the screen.
Heroes of Weiner - creators of big money
The great creator was the author of the novel “Multiplying Sorrow”. The actors and roles they played in the series of the same name told the story of the relationship, carried through the years. The epigraph to the novel was the commandment from Ecclesiastes: "There is much sorrow in many wisdom, and whoever multiplies knowledge, multiplies sorrow."
Georgy Weiner (namely, he is the book "father" of this difficult story) reasoned as follows. He said that it was immediately difficult to figure out who those “multiplying sorrow” were. In his novel, they are creators of big money. Usually they are called tycoons, "new Russians", oligarchs - their essence cannot change from this. Such people became captains of the elements, which suddenly fell upon the Russian people. It was a very serious, powerful, even terrible element - the element of money. In the days of socialism, people did without them, because there was a system of barter exchange, albeit a beggar, but it existed. And real money came much later, when the redistribution of property began. And that all changed: people, relationships. The eternal concepts of love, friendship have changed ... That's the question "What is the book about?" Weiner replied that about money, but to the question "About whom?" - about the oligarchs.
The cast of the picture
The action-packed crime series instantly won the hearts of millions of viewers. The actors of the series “Multiplying Sorrow” talked about the true friendship of the guys and what could become a motive for the three men who had been together since childhood and from their best friends turned not only into ordinary rivals, but even into cruel, angry, ignorant not the slightest mercy of the enemies.
The actors were superbly selected. “Multiplying Sorrow" brought together young artists and those whom the country had known for decades: Valentin Smirnitsky and Nikolai Chindyaykin, Evgenia Kryukova and Daria Moroz, Stanislav Lyubshin and Ivan Roldugin, Natalya Rogozhkina and Boris Klyuyev.
Inseparable friends
One of the main roles - Boyky Cat - was played by St. Petersburg actor Ilya Shakunov. The past few years, he is considered one of the most sought after young actors.
The oligarch - Tricky Dog - was played by Anatoly Bely. Despite the fact that he already had several roles, it was the role of Serebrovsky that became the first main one for the actor. The director Oleg Fesenko tried to preserve in the picture a comparison by the author of the omnipotent oligarch Serebrovsky with the ancient Greek king Midas, who had the ability to turn into gold everything that he touched (which later became his curse). The actor himself, as the omnipotent owner of the company, looked very much like today's financial tycoons.
The officer - Faithful Horse - was played by Alexei Makarov, known to the audience in the film "Voroshilovsky shooter." It was he who, according to the scriptwriters, was trying to prevent a complete discord between his two friends. He is the prototype of the knight of today, believing in the truths established by his friends many years ago.
Thanks to Georgy Weiner - a kind of virtuoso of the word - it was possible to create all the characters in the series with interesting and special characters. This is what the actors played. "Multiplying sorrow" (series) just conveyed all this. Indeed, in fact - a few friends, a beloved girl, wealth and betrayal, what could be interesting here? But it is the heroes, their thoughts and aspirations that are especially valuable to the audience. Each of them becomes him almost a native person.
