This can spoil the opinion of any person, cause inconvenience in communication, disrupt business negotiations and even destroy intimate relationships. A terrible bad breath, like nothing else, can repel, cause disgust, provoke rudeness. And even if he is not so terrible and stinking, but only barely perceptible, he can already cause discomfort, both for those around him and for the poor fellow suffering from halitosis - this is the scientific name for this phenomenon. Halitosis can occur in humans sporadically, and may obsessively pursue him, and the causes of bad breath can also be different. But whatever the causes and manifestations, everyone wants to get rid of bad breath, if, of course, he has not yet given up on himself.
The most obvious and common causes of halitosis are familiar to dentists. This is bad, incorrect, insufficient and irregular oral hygiene. Hordes of bacteria “nest” in a person’s mouth - they release gas with such a characteristic odor. Even regular brushing can not completely rid a person of bacteria if he does not use dental floss and neglects such an important component as brushing his tongue. Bacteria - they are microscopic, they don’t need a lot of space, so they fit perfectly between the teeth and tongue, live there, multiply and, sorry, stink. Plus periodontal diseases (that is, gum disease) also badly spoil the bad breath. What to do in such cases is probably obvious - regularly visit the dentist, treat teeth and gums and carefully monitor oral hygiene. After all, all these chewing gums, candies and breath fresheners are just a disguise, but not a cure.
The fact that bad breath is caused by tobacco and alcohol is obvious, but some nutritional characteristics can also be the cause of halitosis. Products such as onions and garlic, cheese, eggs, smoked meats, cabbage and some others can spoil your breath for up to three days! It manifests itself when the product interacts with gastric and intestinal enzymes. But even more interestingly, the lack of nutrition can also cause a far from exquisite aroma, which is released during the use of stored fats by the body as an energy source. It leads to halitosis and dehydration.
Many causes of halitosis are associated with various diseases of the body. The same process of processing fats, causing a characteristic odor, "turns on" not only during starvation, but also with diabetes. In chronic renal failure, the acid-base balance is disturbed, which also causes stench. At such stages of cancer of the stomach or esophagus, when the tumor tissue begins to decompose, a pronounced putrefactive odor also appears, however, in this case, this is perhaps the lesser of all evils. Sometimes stench from your mouth can even lead the doctor to the correct diagnosis - this happens, for example, with a lung abscess. Symptoms of this purulent inflammation are similar to signs of a sore throat or flu, and a pungent and unpleasant odor can “give out” an abscess. Of course, you cannot name the benefits of halitosis, there is simply such a feature.
The list of diseases in which odor is observed to one degree or another is quite extensive: respiratory tract infections, chronic inflammatory diseases of the nasopharynx, liver failure, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, and renal failure. So, unless you have eaten up garlic or some particularly “odorous” roquefort, a bad smell can be a signal to see a doctor. But to start, at least in probability theory, is still worth it from the dentist.
Whatever the causes of bad breath, it’s worth finding and eradicating them without delay. After all, even if this “trifle” does not indicate a serious illness, it certainly destroys your carefully created image of a civilized person.
