Biography

Alexander Berda was born in the city of Volgograd on June 5, 1956. In a short interview, the actor, telling about himself, said that his mom and dad lived in Moldova before his birth, left for the construction of the Volga-Don Canal. As a schoolboy, he lived in the village of Karmanovo (Moldova) in the uncle's family. After graduation, he was drafted into the army. After completing military service, he became a student at Moscow State University, choosing the faculty of journalism. In those years, he began to participate in the productions of the student theater, whose artistic director was Roman Viktyuk. According to Alexander, if not for his acquaintance with this director, he would never have become an actor. Since 1986 he has been working at the Sovremennik Theater.

This film by Elem Klimov is based on real events that were described in Adamovich’s Khatyn Story. This is a story about a young man who during the war experienced the monstrous and indescribably brutal inhumanity of the Nazis. The young man at the beginning of the film looks at us through the eyes of a child, and at the end this is the look of an old man. The picture, in which the main roles were played by Alexey Kravchenko and Olga Mironova, took the main prize of the MIFF 1985, received an award at the IFF in Avellino.
