Here it is - the modern miracle of online advertising. It would seem that everyone can! But this is only the front side of the story, the official version.
How it all began?
The story of the team begins long before the release of the song and the formation of Die Antwoord. The protagonist is the Ninja, whose real name is Waddy Jones. His appearance and behavior remind a white guy named Eminem, who shocked the entire rap community about ten years ago. Waddy already had some pretty successful bands. Every time he came up with new names, chips, legends ... In the mid-90s, his name was The MAN WHO NEVER CAME BACK, and his project was The Original Evergreen. The guys released several albums with the Sony label. But something was missing, and the project became obsolete after two years.
Who are all these people?
The next step to the global music scene was the transformation of Jones into Max Norman. His old records are now quite popular as a result of the fame of Die Antwoord. The project had the honor of supporting Nelly Fortado and electronic music stars The Faithless.
Between these projects, Waddy tried himself also under other guises: Yang Weapon, MC Tatolly Rad. Already during this period, he begins to speak with a miniature brunette who excellently reads rap and dresses like a boy - Henri du Toit. But things did not go beyond these steps. Soon, Henry will appear in the zep-rep team as a full-fledged and irreplaceable member under the name Yo-Landy.
And only after such experiments in 2008, a notorious bastard in tattoos Ninja and spectacular blonde Yo-Landy appear, who have an answer to all questions about what a successful group should be. Its name from one of the official languages of South Africa is translated by Answear.
Zeph Rap Philosophy
So, the main style of the group was chosen street rap, which sounds in the areas of Cape Town at every turn. Motifs composed the simplest, rather sticky, instantly memorable. As the Ninja himself says, locals need a song that will yell from the car window. Therefore, we need a difficult rap, but rave rap! And here it is - that note that Waddy was so lacking in all previous projects. The drive from this combination has spawned a whole new direction of Zef-rap. According to Yo-Landy, Zef (translated from Afrikaans means straight boys) is about those who are poor, but cool and stylish.
It turns out that Die Antwoord created a whole new philosophy. Zef is the culture of white and black Africa, paganism, the thinking of poverty, modern music and rave's acid colors. All concerts are seasoned with explosions of pyrotechnics, smoke screens, a laser show and performances. But can a project be less impressive if it arises in a country where there are as many as eleven official languages!
The audience loses control, goes wild, goes crazy - it's all about her. This music is about the modern generation of the 10s of the XXI century!
