On the NTV channel you can see a lot of news - both accusatory and criminal, and simply scandalous. This channel has long won the glory of the scandalous and criminal television channel. But few know how NTV stands for what these letters mean.
Common misconception
The year 1993 was established. The creators of NTV were Igor Malashenko, Yevgeny Kiselyov and Oleg Dobrodeev (colleagues jokingly called this group of people “three letters”). Many are mistaken that they know the answer to the question: "How is NTV decrypted?" The widespread belief that these letters mean "independent television" is wrong. The president of the television company Igor Malashenko himself says that “about fifty times” he already spoke about a misunderstanding of the abbreviation “NTV”, the decoding of which was never translated as “independent television”. Anyway, not everything is so simple with these three letters.
NTV: the abbreviation
But what is the real situation? How is NTV decrypted in this case? And the answer is very simple: nothing at all. According to Malashenko himself, he once long ago came up with this abbreviation for the new television, but his then partners did not like it. They proposed both "independent" and "non-state". But in the end, in '93, after assigning the abbreviation to the new television channel, everyone agreed together that NTV would not be decrypted in any way.
Development
About how NTV is deciphered, at first there were speculations in favor of the fact that the first letter in the abbreviation claims to be "independent", but over time all assumptions were dispelled.
NTV began broadcasting on Channel Five, and it was possible to see only the only program of Yevgeny Kiselyov Itogi. But as early as next year, entevashniks broadcast 58 hours a week, only on the fourth channel. After a while, the fourth channel was completely absorbed in “three letters,” and, as former media curator Mikhail Poltoranin told us, the case could not have done without the help of “above” and bribes.
By the way, the fourth channel was essentially cultural and educational and was called "Russian Universities." And a useful river of knowledge was blocked by a mountain of intrigue and scandals. However, perhaps not everything is so tragic - after all, after the collapse of the USSR, the leaders of the fourth television channel did not really strive to fulfill their educational role, but merely created an appearance, hiding behind a noble name and releasing very different programs from earlier ones.
As for the NTV television company, its leadership left a piece of the former educational channel on its own "territory". It was a one-hour broadcast for people learning foreign languages. However, this program did not last long on the channel - in 1997 it was closed, and after that there was not a single program on Russian television that was designed for youth education.
Now NTV is a 24-hour all-Russian channel where you can find various news and analytical programs, journalistic investigations and, in addition to this, social and political talk shows take up a lot of space. Often you can see documentaries, as well as many TV shows (mostly of a criminal nature).
