They say that little Salvatore painted his first picture at the age of ten. It resembled an impressionistic landscape, was painted on a wooden board with simple oil paints. Dali sat in the small room for days on end, and by the time he was fourteen, his initial pronounced talent had taken on very real forms, and Dali's paintings were clearly professional execution.
Painting, literature, cinema
In 1921, Salvador entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. In the 30s, the young artist admired the work of futurists, but was already considering creating his own style in art. Of no small importance in the work of Salvador Dali was literature. He writes and publishes his works on outstanding artists of various eras, meets and makes friends with the poet Lorca. The natural genius is talented in everything he touches: his acquaintance with Luis Bonuel led to their joint work in later years (“Andalusian dog” in 1929 and “Golden Age” in 1931 were written according to the scripts of the great artist).
The influence of cubism and the first exhibitions
In the early 30s, the young artist's attention was focused on cubism and the works of another genius - Pablo Picasso. So, for example, in the style and method of Dali's painting “Young Girls” (1923), a clear influence of this trend can be traced. In 1925, a personal exhibition of the artist. It presented 27 paintings and several drawings made by Salvador Dali. The paintings are successful and are accompanied by the outrageous master. And in 1926, Salvador moved to Paris, which has a huge impact on the further work of the artist.
Surrealism
In Paris, a young artist joins a group of surrealists led by Henri Burton, who is pleased to shock the audience with a variety of actions and violent behavior. A new direction in art completely captures the imagination of El Salvador. Dali's new paintings - “Honey is sweeter than blood”, “Bright joys” - contain elements of the aesthetics of surrealism. The previously mentioned film, shot in the same spirit: “Andalusian dog” is being released. By the end of 1929, surrealism became a noticeable, but for many controversial and unacceptable direction of art.
Gala
In 1929, Dali met Elena Dyakonova (Gala), who became the artist's muse for many years. In 1930, Dali's paintings “Blurred Time”, “Persistence of Memory” and others brought him widespread fame and popularity. And Gala finally gets a divorce from Paul Eluard, whose wife was actually, and marries the already famous artist (1934). A little earlier, the artist breaks with the Breton group, declaring his well-known: "Surrealism is me!"
Salvador Dali: paintings
"Metamorphoses of Narcissus" (1937) - one of the most famous paintings of the artist. The theme of the picture is directly related to the philosophy of art. Simultaneously with the canvas, the literary work Metamorphoses of Narcissus. Paranoid theme ”, which in turn was a continuation of the work“ Subjugation of the irrational ”, where Dali formulates his theory of the paranoid-critical method in art.
Dali draws Narcissus bowed by the water. The character is looking at her. Nearby is a crumbling stone repeating the outline of the hero of the plot, but at the same time it resembles a bulb with a flower growing out of it. In the background is a group of naked, and a third daffodil figure appears on the horizon. Such originality and ambiguity in the interpretation of the image of Narcissus (as well as many images of the artist's paintings) required additional explanation. Salvador even wrote a poem in his poem in his painting.
Dali - near!
In subsequent paintings, such as Atomic Leda, Christ of St. Juan de la Cruz, The Last Supper, Sodom Self-Satisfaction of an Innocent Virgin, and many others, the artist continues to shock the public, formulating the laws of "nuclear mysticism", and critics of all stripes vying to compete to come up with a description of Dali paintings, worthy of a great genius. But also accessible to the perception of an ordinary person.
