What is Trichomonas vaginitis?

Trichomonas vaginitis is a disease of the genital organs caused by a specific microorganism Trichomonas, which can move with the help of flagella.

This microorganism is dangerous in that it may not cause clinical symptoms in one partner, but be pathogenic for another. The incubation period lasts from one day to a whole month. During this time, the microbe actively multiplies on the mucous membranes of the genital organs, and then the symptoms of the disease occur.

Trichomonas vaginitis is very often supplemented by other genital infections, resulting in a mixed infection, which is much more difficult to cure than normal.

Of course, no infection can pass without a trace. Even a runny nose leaves consequences.

What threatens trichomonas vaginitis to women?

To begin with, any pathological process of the reproductive system entails a malfunction of the menstrual cycle, which is very difficult to recover.

The sexual sphere of a woman begins to fade away against the background of the disease. Painful intercourse does not bring satisfaction.

Trichomonas vaginitis is accompanied by debilitating itching and a lot of unpleasant sensations, due to which the emotional state of the partner changes, she becomes nervous, irritable and hot-tempered.

Thus, this disease affects not only the patient herself, but also the people around her.

A microorganism can only affect the urinary system, but if the process remains untreated for a long time, then it soon captures all the organs of the small pelvis.

Trichomonas can be located on the vulva, the inner surface of the labia, the wall of the vagina and in the uterus. In this case, trichomonas vulvovaginitis can often flow from acute to chronic, which is much more difficult.

It is very difficult to draw a fine line between acute and chronic form. I just want to advise patients with the slightest symptoms of this disease to consult a doctor immediately so as not to start the process.

Signs of vaginitis are characteristic of all forms:

  • severe, and sometimes unbearable itching of the external genitalia and vagina. Sometimes you can see scratches and crusts on the labia majora, as a confirmation of the symptom;
  • swelling and redness of the mucous membranes. Colpitis and urethritis are the most common symptoms of trichomonas infection. As a result of edema, urination is difficult and painful, during intercourse a woman feels a burning sensation and pain;
  • copious frothy discharge, which can subsequently turn into profuse leucorrhoea;
  • discomfort and pulling pain in the lower abdomen;
  • violation of the menstrual cycle and the nature of menstruation.

All these symptoms indicate the presence of a microorganism in the flora of the female genital organs. However, one should not forget about the asymptomatic carriage of the parasite.

The route of transmission of Trichomonas is most often sexual, but this organism can get on the genitals when using shared linen or a towel.

It was found that Trichomonas is transmitted through medical instruments, as well as during the passage of the child through the birth canal. In such a situation, congenital trichomoniasis is diagnosed.

The baby can be infected from the mother, while still in the womb, through amniotic waters.

Identification of Trichomonas in the oral cavity indicates the possibility of infection even with oral contact.

It should be noted that the parasite affects only the genitourinary system, and in other organs does not cause symptoms of the disease and does not live for a long time.

Trichomonas is very sensitive to sunlight, and already at 45 degrees dies. The body interacts very well with gonococcus, while the process is quickly chronized and difficult to treat.
