Psychosomatics of sinusitis: description, causes and treatment features

Sinusitis is a very serious disease both in treatment and in the manifesting symptoms. It is generally accepted that the disease is infectious in nature and develops when the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract is damaged by streptococci or staphylococci, causing inflammation and decay of the maxillary sinuses.

Psychosomatics sinusitis

However, very often the classical treatment with antibiotics, surgical punctures, immunomodulators does not bring the final result. The disease only temporarily recedes, and then its symptoms return again, and for the sufferer it all starts over again. Therefore, sometimes it is necessary to consider sinusitis from the point of view of psychosomatics.

First symptoms

Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine immediately that sinusitis started. The first manifestations of the disease are characteristic of a number of colds:

  • headache;
  • general lethargy and malaise;
  • temperature rise;
  • runny nose.

Typically, the therapist prescribes a referral to the otolaryngologist when the discharge from the nose does not last longer than a month, while patients complain of a pressing sensation above the eyebrows and under the eyes, headache and weakness.

In this case, directly pushed content can be transparent and not have an unpleasant odor. In this case, doctors recommend visiting not only the ENT specialist, but also an allergist.

Varieties of sinusitis

There are three types of inflammation of the maxillary sinuses:

  • acute;
  • allergic;
  • chronic.

Acute form of the disease

The acute form of the disease is distinguished by the presence of signs that cannot be ignored:

  • severe pain in the face and head, with a return to the ears or teeth;
  • tearfulness, poor reaction to bright light;
  • spontaneous leakage from the nose, especially when the head is tilted down, purulent secretions of gray, yellow, green, sometimes with seals;
  • frequent chills;
  • nasal congestion and loss of smell.

The chronic form is a dormant state of illness. With such a course, sinusitis is aggravated only seasonally or with facial congestion, regular exposure to drafts and the like. The most inconspicuous clinical situation for this disease, which is usually mistaken for swollen ears, is simply SARS or bad teeth.

The allergic variety is characterized by a constant runny nose with transparent discharge, a feeling of irritation and dryness in the nose, itchy eyes and sneezing.

Sinusitis, psychosomatics: causes

The usual sources of this complex disease include:

  • congenital or acquired abnormalities, for example, the curvature of the nasal septum;
  • infectious and viral diseases;
  • polyps in the nose;
  • external factors favorable to allergies;
  • fungal infections.

Standard treatment methods

If the reason lies in one of these factors, then one of the accepted methods of treatment will cope with the disease:

  • medicines
  • washing;
  • surgery.

In case of relapse or a general lack of result, the roots of the disease should be sought in the patientโ€™s emotional state. It is necessary to carefully analyze the sinusitis. Psychosomatics here most likely plays an important role.

Psychosomatics of sinusitis

A popular saying that all diseases are from nerves is often confirmed. Excluding fungal infections and other objective reasons, including possible allergens, for the appearance of regular inflammation of the maxillary sinuses, you should pay attention to the state of the nervous system and psyche. There is such a thing as psychosomatics of diseases, sinusitis often occurs precisely for psychological reasons.

There are certain factors by which sinusitis occurs:

  • frequent or prolonged stress;
  • Depression
  • state of frustration;
  • anxiety;
  • general depression;
  • feeling of lack of demand and unfulfillment;
  • constant bitterness combined with self-pity;
  • chronic emotional fatigue;
  • the need to prove something to others.

The list of emotional complications goes on. There are infinitely many reasons for tears and experiences, and, having no way out, being restrained for a long time inside, they will inevitably lead to illness. And since psychosomatics began to work, sinusitis from an acute form will soon turn into a chronic one. It is only a matter of time.

What is the manifestation of psychosomatics? Sinusitis is directly related to un cried tears, however paradoxical it may sound. The thing is that with artificially restrained crying, the sinuses are not cleared. On the contrary, the moisture and mucus produced in the same sinuses remains. Because man did not consciously cry. An extremely favorable soil is formed for the growth and activity of bacteria. This is psychosomatics, as a result of which sinusitis appears, and neither medication, nor washing and punctures can cope with it.

Sinusitis in children

Separately, it is necessary to highlight the reasons for the occurrence of inflammation of the adenoids and, of course, the maxillary sinuses, in children. In contrast to adults, growing organisms are much stronger in terms of immunity, they tolerate diseases more easily and recover more quickly.

However, constant sniffling is not uncommon. Before you start dragging a baby through medical rooms and endless procedures or stuffing a baby nose with all kinds of drops, it is worth considering whether the child is doing well emotionally. The psychosomatics of sinusitis in children practically does not differ from the adult.

The psychosomatic causes of sinusitis include two seemingly opposite factors:

  • lack of love, attention, approval, support and care from adults;
  • an overabundance of adoration, hyper-custody, excessive attention, obsessive care.

In the first version, the child feels unnecessary, superfluous. If excessive strictness and exactingness is added to the lack of attention felt by the baby, then the child not only realizes himself lonely, he is forced to constantly meet the expectations of adults and justify their vision of himself. This is a terrible stress that causes constant internally held tears and, accordingly, leads to sinusitis.

With the second type of adult behavior, the baby suffers from the inability to express himself, to do at least something on his own. As a rule, this begins with the inability to get dirty in infancy, fall on the playground, and later get a deuce in school, as parents will take all measures to prevent their children from giving this grade. Such excessive love leads to emotional frustration, a feeling of being locked up from the world in the cell, and, of course, to the same un cried cry, which develops into sinusitis.

sinusitis in terms of psychosomatics

Sinusitis in a modern world full of stresses, difficulties, resentments and disappointments, is increasingly common. The best prevention in this regard is peace, peace of mind, harmony with oneself and the outside world, kindness and positive emotions. Despite the fact that it is quite difficult, all the efforts made will justify themselves, and together with insults, anger, grief, sinusitis will pass away from life.
