Biography: Vishnevskaya Galina was born in Leningrad on October 25, 1926. She herself wrote about her difficult childhood in an autobiography. The strong character of the singer appeared even then. Her mother married without love. When Galina was born, this indifference passed on to her daughter. Her mother left her in the care of her grandmother in Kronstadt. All those around her felt sorry, but she protested against this humiliation, therefore she was an awkward child.

In 1974, Vishnevskaya Galina Pavlovna turned to Brezhnev with a letter. In it, she wrote that after repeated appeals for help and the shameful restriction of acting, she sees no other way out than to leave her husband and children abroad for 2 years.
After the family leaves, newspapers brand them as "ideological degenerates." They wrote that they defamed the Soviet system. They were even deprived of citizenship, however, 4 other countries immediately offered it to them.
Outraged musicians wrote to Brezhnev that they, half a century who had given art, were deprived of the right to die in their homeland. They wrote in a rather harsh form that they had never been involved in politics and would not recognize all the charges. They also demanded an open trial of them in the USSR.

In 1990, Mikhail Gorbachev returned spouses citizenship, but they refused to accept it. Galina and Mstislav came to Russia only for the sake of art. Vishnevskaya performed the role of Catherine II in the play “Behind the Mirror”. She also wrote her autobiography, which she called “Galina”. The book was dedicated to the children of the singer.
