Who invented the saxophone?

The inventor of this soulful musical instrument is considered to be an instrumental Belgian master of French origin - Adolf Sachs. All his life he dreamed of giving a chance to be an instrument that would become something between the wooden and musical copper notes. A device in which these two tones could be combined would fit perfectly, in the inventor's opinion, into the orchestra of the French military. Many do not give an exact answer to the question “in which year the saxophone was invented,” however it is known that the birth of the saxophone took place at the beginning of 1842. The patent was established 4 years after the invention. According to the story of how Sax invented the saxophone, he sat at home and, holding the mouthpiece from the clarinet to the official, made an attempt to play, from the very first notes the guy fell in love with this sound. From that moment, it occurred to him to name such an instrument in his honor. Hector Berlioz, the then popular composer and journalist, was very surprised to hear the amazing sound of the saxophone. A few months later, the journalist wrote an article about this musical instrument.

What does a saxophone consist of? His views

The one who invented the saxophone is mentioned more often today than about its achievement. And this is true. However, the tool itself is worthy of no less attention. Since the birth of the saxophone, its author has developed fourteen species. But over time, it became clear that only eight of them were most popular. And the four species are simply swept away from the author’s hands with lightning speed. These instruments have a very rich sound and extraordinary technique.

saxophone upright

This musical instrument is a conical-shaped tube. They make it, as a rule, from a special alloy of copper, zinc and nickel. The saxophone author further improved his creation and gave some species a more compact form. Saxophone has become more convenient to use due to the curved base. A saxophone, which has many varieties, can be even. The tool consists of three parts: the body (base), the bell and eski. Eski is a tube that is a continuation of the saxophone body. The mouthpiece is superimposed on this part. It is shaped like a bird's beak and made of ebonite. Sometimes manufacturers use high-quality plastic. Less commonly, metal. For the formation of a specific sound in the saxophone, the “tongue” is responsible - the cane. It, in turn, can be reed, bamboo or made from reeds. This part of the saxophone is attached to the instrument using a typewriter (ligature). In appearance, it resembles a small bundle with a pair of screws on the sides. The one who invented the saxophone, namely Adolf Sachs, did not forget about the beautiful appearance of the instrument. Today it is made using the technology of the first author, complementing with beautiful shades and patterns.

Saxophone in today's world

Today, the saxophone enjoys unusual popularity and is considered one of the main instruments in many brass bands. Few connoisseurs of modern music, including pop music, rock, rock and roll, know that the saxophone is also involved in these modern directions. This wind instrument takes not the last place in symphony orchestras.

Briefly about the future fate of Sax

Sax after reaching the peak of his career decides to stay in Paris. Many were not happy that a famous inventor would live on their land - the one who invented the saxophone. However, Sax's friends supported him. The rivals turned out to be competitors - local masters. They, as it turned out later, envied the talent of Sachs and his friend Berlioz. Adolf Sachs, by virtue of his wisdom, does not pay attention to evil rumors and opens his own business for the production of wind musical instruments. His work is in great demand, and orders come from many countries around the world. The saxophone continues to be popular, each time recalling the great man who made a great contribution to the history of music, about who invented the saxophone and forever remained in the memory of many.
