Inflammatory kidney disease is a very common problem that both adults and children face. But the chronic forms of such diseases are very dangerous, as they are accompanied by a gradual change in tissues and a disruption in the normal functioning of the excretory system. So is there an effective treatment for chronic pyelonephritis?
Chronic pyelonephritis: causes and symptoms
Such a disease is accompanied by a chronic inflammatory process, which affects primarily the system of the pelvis and calyx. In most cases, this form of the disease develops as a result of improper treatment of the acute stage of inflammation. And before you figure out how chronic pyelonephritis is treated, you should learn more about its symptoms.
In fact, the clinical picture is usually a bit blurry. Almost all patients complain of severity and mild low back pain, which intensifies during brisk walking or exercise. In some cases, frequent urination is noted, especially at night. Body temperature can remain normal - only in some patients it from time to time rises to 38 degrees, and in the evening. Along with this, a deterioration in well-being is observed - patients complain of weakness, drowsiness, decreased performance.
Chronic pyelonephritis: treatment
Since the most common cause of the inflammatory process is a bacterial infection, appropriate therapy is needed here. It is worth remembering that the treatment of chronic pyelonephritis with antibiotics should take place exclusively under the strict supervision of a doctor. The fact is that in many cases, pathogens are immune to most standard antibacterial agents.
For this purpose, laboratory sowing is carried out with a further study of the pathogen. During such testing, doctors manage not only to determine the nature and variety of microorganisms, but also to study their sensitivity to a particular group of drugs.
Most often, treatment of chronic pyelonephritis with antibiotics lasts about two weeks. Very effective drugs are those containing penicillin and its derivatives (for example, Amoxicillin), as well as cephalosporins (Suprax) and sometimes fluoroquinolones (Ofloxacin, Levofloxacin medicines). After a course of taking antibacterial drugs, repeated studies and analyzes are carried out.
In addition, patients are prescribed medications that normalize normal blood circulation in the tissues of the kidneys and prevent stagnation of venous blood. For this purpose, the drugs Aescusan, Curantil and others are used.
Of course, the treatment of chronic pyelonephritis includes a proper diet. Firstly, in the absence of edema, patients are advised to consume as much fluid as possible (at least three liters per day). Proper drinking regimen contributes to the rapid detoxification of the body. It is necessary to limit the amount of salt in the diet, as well as include fresh fruits and waxes in the daily menu (watermelons and melons will be especially useful).
Treatment of such a disease can last for months, since eliminating chronic inflammation is not so simple. The decision to discontinue therapy can only be made by the attending physician after receiving the results of the examination, which would confirm the satisfactory condition of the excretory system.
