Analgesic "Baralgin" - instructions for use

In this article, we describe a fairly powerful pain medication called Baralgin. The instruction for use relates it to the clinical-pharmacological group of “Analgesics-antipyretics”. According to its pharmacological action, this medicine is a pyrazolone derivative related to non-narcotic drugs.

The drug "Baralgin" has the following indications for use: pain of various etiologies and intensities, including headache and toothache, as well as:

  • neuralgia;
  • pain syndrome accompanying osteochondrosis, sciatica;
  • arthritis;
  • intestinal, biliary, renal colic;
  • fever accompanying infectious and inflammatory processes;
  • smooth muscle spasms;
  • postoperative pain;
  • algodismenorea.

A solution of baralgin should not be mixed with other drugs in the same syringe. With severe pain, in particular, due to inflammatory pathologies of the spine, arthritis, intramuscular administration of the described drug with relanium is allowed. In this case, the solutions are injected alternately with two syringes, and the analgesic effect of baralgin is enhanced.

In addition to analgesic and antipyretic, this medicine also has some antispasmodic effect. In tablets "Baralgin", the instructions for use determine the following single dosage:

- for children up to three years of age, inclusive - from 50 to 100 mg;

- for children from four to five years - 100 - 200 mg;

- from six to seven years of age - 200 mg;

For children from eight to fourteen years of age, the drug is prescribed from 250 to 300 mg. Adolescents over fifteen and adults as a single dose receive one tablet of the drug, which is 500 mg.

The multiplicity of taking the tablets of the drug "Baralgin" instructions for use determines 2.3 p. in a day. In this case, the maximum single dose is 1 gram, and the daily dose is two and a half grams (five tablets of the medicine). Treatment with this drug as an anesthetic can last no more than five, and as an antipyretic, three days.

It is forbidden to independently increase the dosage of baralgin. If necessary, the duration of administration and dosage is made under medical supervision. When taking pills, you should drink plenty of water with them.

Young children up to a year can receive the medication in question purely as prescribed by a medical specialist and only by intramuscular route.

In the form of a solution, the drug "Baralgin" instructions for use obliges patients to enter slowly at any age. Rapid administration of it can lead to a critical drop in blood pressure and trigger a shock. In this case, we are talking about both intravenous and intramuscular administration of a solution of baralgin.

Among the side effects associated with the use of this drug, allergies were noted, as well as:

  • kidney dysfunction.
  • Change in color of urine (stained red).
  • Proteinuria
  • Leukopenia

In rare cases, acute interstitial nephritis developed, decreased pressure, heart rhythm disturbance.

As for the interaction of baralgin with other substances, the simultaneous administration of non-narcotic drugs with other analgesics can provoke a mutual increase in their toxic effect. The same can be said with regard to co-use with alcohol.

The contraindications to the use of Baralgin are: hepatic porphyria, as well as hypersensitivity to this drug. In case of an overdose of the drug "Baralgin", the instructions for use oblige you to consult a doctor. Symptoms may be as follows:

  • renal, liver failure.
  • Drowsiness.
  • Noise in ears.
  • Characteristic taste in the mouth.
  • Impaired consciousness.
  • Cramps.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Pain in the stomach.

Also, an overdose can be accompanied by vomiting, convulsions, respiratory paralysis. As a first aid, gastric lavage should be done.
