The Kaliningrad Regional Philharmonic Hall is a concert hall for various musical events. Famous Russian and foreign performers perform in it: singers, violinists, organists and pianists. Often, here concerts of orchestral music are held for everyone. And in recent years, the Philharmonic has become a concert venue for major international festivals.
History
The Kaliningrad Philharmonic was established in one of the city’s oldest buildings, which was previously the German Königsberg. The Catholic Church was built in Germany in 1907, in the Neo-Gothic style. The building is made of red brick, symmetrically in composition, has a high tower with pediments. An organ was located in the church, and in the pre-war time it was planned to conduct training for young organists. After the war, the building was not used for many years, it began to collapse. Recovery only occurred in the late 70s. In 1980, the discovery of a new philharmonic society. Since the acoustics of the hall was originally intended for the performance of organ music, after a couple of years an organ was installed in the building. They brought the instrument from the Czech Republic, its distinguishing features - 3600 pipes, 44 registers.
With the support of the Ministry of Culture of the region, the Amber Necklace Music Festival is held at the Philharmonic, to which various groups from Germany, Poland, Lithuania and other countries are invited. More than once, the concert hall has become the venue for the competition of organists.
Description
The Philharmonic of Kaliningrad was named after the famous Soviet conductor and composer E.F. Svetlanov. The hall has a capacity of 400 seats. This is a favorite place not only for Kaliningraders, but also guests of the city. Thanks to the excellent acoustics, the sound quality does not change depending on the occupied space. And the scene in two levels allows viewers to see all the action taking place.
In order to promote musical art in the Philharmonic, theme nights and lectures are held. For children with performing talent and skills, there is the opportunity to perform on stage as part of the ABC of Inspiration program. The educational activity of the organization also consists in conducting special events for students, and implementing on-stage concerts and performances for entire families with the participation of gifted musicians of the city.
Events
With the participation of musicians of the Philharmonic, field events are also organized in other cities of Russia, and especially often - in settlements of the Kaliningrad region. Children get the opportunity to attend thematic performances, as well as show their skills in musical instruments. For an older audience, lectures, concert performances are organized, for pensioners and veterans there is an opportunity to attend a charity concert dedicated to a particular holiday for free or at reduced prices.
During the period when the philharmonic musicians themselves go on tour, tour tours from other countries and cities come to the city. Due to the fact that Kaliningrad is very close to Europe, performances of famous foreign groups are often held here.
Festivals
Since 1994, the Musical Spring Festival has been held at the Philharmonic. He gained particular fame after a children's choir from Vilnius called “Aguolucas” performed on the stage. Other groups of children and young performers came to Kaliningrad at different times. These are musicians from Poland, laureates of international competitions from the UK, and many Russian performers. In the framework of the festival, distinguished guests were met: B. Tishchenko, composer and People's Artist of the RSFSR, V. Bibergan, German conductor H. Schmalenberg.

In 2000, the festival “Divine Service” was held for the first time. This large-scale event is dedicated to the work of the great German composer and organist. Musicians from Europe and from different cities of Russia come to present their vision and performance of Bach music, as well as to listen to other artists. In some years, thematic performances were shown as part of the event. Among the eminent participants of the festival over the years it is worth mentioning the names of Hiroko Inoue, Joachim Dalitz, Ulrich von Wrochem, Sergei Stadler. Musicians play not only on the organ, but also on other instruments: violin, viola, piano.
Jazz in the Philharmonic of Kaliningrad
Another festival held within the walls of the Kaliningrad Philharmonic is dedicated to jazz music. The international jazz festival is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, as well as the consulates general of several countries. The uniqueness of this event is that it welcomes originality, attempts to combine and mix several musical styles and directions, the use of different instruments and techniques. Such famous performers as jazzman Alexei Kozlov, the Lithuanian ensemble Kivi, composer Daniil Kramer, the Franco-German duo Francois Jeannot and Uli Lenza came to Kaliningrad.
In 2017, the poster of the Kaliningrad Philharmonic Society marks the beginning of the XIV Jazz Festival on October 14th. The end day of the event is November 8th. As part of this event, the compositions of J. Lennon, M. Monno sound. Popular singer Mandy Gaines flies from America to perform a number of songs; she will be accompanied by Patrick Kelly.
Poster
Conducted in the concert hall and some day activities. The poster for the Kaliningrad Philharmonic in October in 2017 included the following events: an online broadcast of a symphony orchestra from the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, a concert of local musicians and musicians from Germany “Music without Borders”, and much more. October 29, the ensemble "Gallery of contemporary music" arrived in the city. Viewers were able to learn new things about contemporary art, video art, improvisation and acoustic performances.
In November, the Kaliningrad Philharmonic’s poster is scheduled for the next concert of the Japanese Hiroko Inoue, performances by Russian instrumentalists on a program dedicated to the work of Edith Piaf, as well as an event with the participation of guitar virtuosos Sergei and Nina Semenkov. Event tickets are already on sale at city box offices.

Tickets for events at the Kaliningrad Philharmonic can be purchased in the concert hall at the box office (just before the concert) or remotely via the Internet. More information about all ongoing and planned events is written on the official website of the organization. There you can see the time of the start of concerts (mainly in the evening, 18 or 19 hours), their duration. Advance reservation is possible.
Ticket prices vary depending on the level of the event and the location of seats in the hall. The average cost is 350 rubles. Some events are subject to age restrictions, children from 6 or 12 years old are allowed. Learn more about this in advance at the box office.
How to get there
The Philharmonic of Kaliningrad is located at: st. Bogdan Khmelnitsky, 61a. Box office hours are from 11 to 19 hours. It is not difficult to find the building; it is clearly visible from the street. Nearby is a small square dedicated to Polish-Russian friendship. And behind it - a large city park "South". The same name has a nearby stop.
You can also get to the Philharmonic from the opposite side, along Bagration Street. There is a bus stop.
