Aivazovsky
Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (1817-1900) is known throughout the world as an outstanding marine painter. He was of Armenian origin, so his real name sounds like Hovhannes Hayvozyan. He lived a long and eventful life, traveled extensively throughout Russia and abroad. He was especially captivated by sea voyages, the impressions of which were forever on the artist’s canvases.
Aivazovsky created more than a hundred paintings depicting the grandeur of the sea element and the fragility of man in front of her. The artist’s creations are an invaluable contribution to the development of marine painting. Seven cases are known when the masterpieces of the famous marine painter were stolen from museums around the world. More than a century has passed since the death of Aivazovsky, but interest in his work does not cool down today.
Art comes to life
Multimedia exhibition “Living Canvases. Aivazovsky ”collected the most famous works of a brilliant artist, which can be seen in museums in Russia. Among them are the Black Sea, the Ninth Wall, Brig Mercury, Rainbow, Moonlit Night on the Bosphorus, etc.
All the paintings are presented not in the original, but in projections on large screens located on the walls, floor and ceiling. 3D animations give volume to the paintings, allow visitors to the exhibition to feel themselves inside the picture. The canvases literally come to life under the accompaniment of musical accompaniment: the rustle of sea waves, the splash and fury of the water element. The decor is complemented by thematic decorations: boats, hammocks, nets. Thanks to all this, each visitor can feel the sea freshness, relax to the music of the surf, admire the power of the ocean, take part in ship battles, hear the roar of a crushing wave - the ninth rampart ...
The uniqueness of the exhibition
Exhibition “Living Canvases. Aivazovsky ”includes informative lectures and master classes on the history of the sea landscape. Also, as part of the installation, a creative workshop was created where each visitor, if desired, can feel like a marinist and create his own masterpiece under the guidance of professional artists. The creative process is accompanied by a live violin and the ability to swing in a hammock during the break. Visitors are allowed to take pictures against the background of their favorite paintings. For younger guests, the organizers of the exhibition specially equipped children's area. It is also filled with thematic attributes and fun.
As you can see, the exhibition "Living paintings. Aivazovsky ”is aimed not only at the cultural education of guests and the awakening of their interest in landscape painting. Using modern multimedia technologies allows you to escape from the hustle and bustle of the world, travel to the sea and enjoy the majestic landscapes and the riot of elements.
Time and place
Exhibition “Living Canvases. Aivazovsky ”has already traveled to major cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk from January to September 2015. But according to the numerous requests of visitors, the organizers decided to make a second multimedia installation.
From January to April 2016, the exhibition “Aivazovsky. Living Canvases ”takes place in St. Petersburg in the Lumiere Hall art space. The organizers took into account the wishes and feedback on the first exhibitions, and now guests will find a more exciting journey into the world of painting, which you can hear and feel.
