But one of the main creators of the film is the director. The person who defines the main idea of the work and guides the creation process. Heredity
In 1967, the first puppet cartoon "Mitten" was released on Soviet television screens, which received national recognition. Its creator was director-animator Roman Kachanov. In the same year, the Kachanov family celebrates the birth of a son, as it will become known later, of the same talented filmmaker as his father. They called the boy Roman too.
The first labor activity of the young man began in the eighth grade, when he decided to work as a postman. However, study and early rises at half past four in the morning were hard, and a gift of fate was the announcement that the famous science fiction writer needed an assistant to write scripts. This writer turned out to be Kir Bulychev. In one of the interviews, Roman Kachanov shared his memories that at that time the profession of a literary secretary was not prestigious, akin to a janitor or cleaner, or whether it was a respected postman. But the guy already decided to connect the future with the cinema, and he needed the experience that he could get as a science fiction assistant.
Self education
The novel was a late child, so it grew and developed independently. The influence of the father in children's education, of course, left an imprint on the choice of the guy's future profession. However, Roma understood that he should not be a multiplier, since there were no artistic skills. And he decided to cheat, as if to continue his father's endeavors - to create films, but by writing scripts and translating them on the set.
Earning a little money from Kira Bulychev, the guy starts attending the director’s courses at the same time, where he not only studies with A. Mitt, E. Ryazanov and G. Danelia, but can also watch the premieres of foreign films that were not available to the Soviet audience at that time.
Roman Kachanov, as a teenager, loved to read. And not in pieces, but in whole collections of works. This was necessary for him to track the work of the authors at different stages of their fate. For example, how F. M. Dostoevsky reflected his experiences from the first volume written up to the moment he went to prison and so on.
Specialty
At the age of 17, having a certain store of knowledge in directing, Roman entered VGIK at the faculty of scriptwriters. His fellow students were R. Litvinova, T. Keosayan, F. Bondarchuk, I. Okhlobystin and many other professionals of contemporary Russian cinema. Friendship with famous people will subsequently continue in the life of the director, screenwriter and actor.
Kachanov began to practice script writing in his student years. His pseudonym for the cartoons he created is Roman Gubin, so that knowledgeable people of the beginning author and his father are not confused. After graduating from VGIK, the young man got into the Rook association at the Gorky film studio, where he left a year later.
First work
The film “Do not ask me about anything” is the first film in which Roman Kachanov is a director and screenwriter. Together with Ivan Biryukov, they decided to make a film "about the physiological functions of man," as critics determined. The plot is based on such a story when the main character, being in an interesting position, tries to determine the father of her unborn child. She has two contenders for this role, although both a priori cannot have children.
The film was released in 1995, although filming ended in 1991. During this break, Roman's debut was the fairy-tale film “Freak”, shown at the Moscow cinema in 1994 and on the federal channel.
But a year before the release of the movie "Freak" Kachanov buried his mother and father. Until 1997, he only shot music videos and advertising plots. In 1998, according to the script by I. Okhlobystin, he directed the comedy Maximilian.
Personal life
Roman Kachanov, whose photo attracts the eyes of many fans, was not deprived of female attention in life. In 1998, he married actress Anna Buklovskaya.
A happy couple had two daughters: Polina and Alexandra. However, the couple broke up in 2003. The second wife was Angelina Chernova, an actress by profession. But this is not the only coincidence, from his second marriage, Roman also has two daughters. One girl, the eldest, was named after Grandma Gara, and the youngest, Dean.

“Down House” is a controversial adaptation of “The Idiot” by F. M. Dostoevsky. The film screening caused a lot of negative criticism about the banter of the classic work. The novel wrote that his goal was to convey to the viewer the modern insane time projected through the heroes of The Idiot and the sarcastic syllable of F. M. Dostoevsky. The film starred Barbara Brylska.

Since 2000, all films produced under the direction of Roman have received various awards and prizes.
