The drug "No-Shpa" is an effective remedy for pain having a spastic nature. The active substance in it is drotaverine, related to myotropic antispasmodics. This type of drug has a direct effect on smooth muscle cells. In addition to the No-Shpa drug, drotaverine is also part of other medicines: Spazmol, Pentalgin, No-shpalgin, Spazmonet, Unispaz.
The drug "No-spa", the contraindications for its use are well known, is available in the form of tablets and a solution for intramuscular and intravenous injection. One tablet contains 40 mg of drotaverine. The solution for injection is supplied in 2 ml ampoules, each of which contains 40 mg of the active substance. Also on sale is the drug “No-shpa forte" - tablets of 80 mg of drotaverine. As of today, there are no analogues in terms of effectiveness in stopping spasms and the breadth of medical use of analogues in preparations based on it.
“No-spa” has a relaxing effect on the smooth muscles of the genitourinary, digestive and vascular systems. In addition to relieving spasms, the drug is able to improve blood circulation in the tissues. Due to its properties, the drug "No-spa", contraindications to the use of which well studied, widely used in various fields of medicine. So, in gynecology, it is prescribed for painful periods, and during pregnancy - with the threat of interruption. “No-spa” is often used during childbirth: acting as an antispasmodic, this drug helps to open the cervix as quickly as possible and, therefore, accelerate the birth process.
A wide range of its applications in gastroenterology is also used for gastritis, gastroduodenitis, colitis, enteritis, diseases of the biliary tract and gall bladder, etc. The No-Shpa drug effectively relieves spasms in any form with renal, biliary and intestinal colic, as well as with cystitis and pyelitis. In addition, it brings significant relief from headaches caused by vascular spasm, including migraines. Finally, with obliterating endarteritis - a chronic narrowing of the vessels of the limbs, leading in the long term to dangerous circulatory disorders in them, the No-Shpa drug is also used. Contraindications to its use, which cannot be ignored, do not cancel the advantages of the drug: it is very effective and recommended by many medical practitioners.
The maximum daily dose of No-Shpa is 240 mg for adults, 160 mg for adolescents over 12 years old and 80 mg for children over 6 years old. Usually it is divided into 2–4 doses. For the treatment of children, only No-Shpa tablets are used, injections of this drug are usually not prescribed to them. In childbirth, 40 mg of the solution is usually administered intramuscularly. In the absence of effect, the administration of this dose is repeated after two hours.
The drug "No-Shpa", the contraindications to the use of which are described in detail in the instructions, like any medicine, should not be used in the presence of hypersensitivity to its active substance or auxiliary components. In addition, its use is prohibited in heart, kidney and liver failure. During pregnancy, he is prescribed only for certain indications - to take the No-Shpa drug during this period on his own initiative to relieve, for example, headaches, is strictly prohibited. It should not be used during lactation, since clinical studies of its action during this period have not been conducted.
Taking this drug should take into account its interaction with other drugs. So, “No-Shpa” significantly weakens the effect of drugs based on levodopa, used in the treatment of patients with parkinsonism. With simultaneous administration with some antidepressants, it enhances their hypotensive effect. Therefore, if it is necessary to take the No-Shpa antispasmodic, it is necessary to inform the doctor of all drugs that are simultaneously taken by the patient.
