The drug "Furagin" (for children and adults) belongs to the category of antimicrobials. The mechanism of action of the drug is based on activity against enzymes of microbial cells that carry a hydrogen molecule. This is what ensures the high bacteriostatic effectiveness of the drug "Furagin". The tool is able to influence both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The active substance is furazidine.
The drug "Furagin" for children and adults is indicated for the treatment of pathologies of the urinary system (including the prostate gland) of an infectious-inflammatory nature in acute and chronic course.
In case of recurrent diseases, the drug is indicated as a warning agent (for congenital malformations of the urinary tract, the need for prolonged catheterization).

The medicine should be taken orally when eating. Since the effect of the drug is enhanced in an acidic environment, it is recommended to use protein products.
Means "Furagin" for children is prescribed at the rate of five to seven milligrams / kilogram of weight per day. If necessary, prolonged therapy, the dosage is reduced to 1-2 mg / kg / day. Adults are recommended one hundred milligrams (two tablets) four times a day on the first day. In the following days, the frequency of doses is reduced to three times a day.

Adverse reactions
When using the drug "Furagin" may impair vision, dizziness, drowsiness, and the development of polyneuropathy. In addition, side effects include vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, dyspeptic symptoms, skin itching, rash, malaise, fever.
Contraindications
Do not prescribe a drug if there is a history of intolerance to drugs of the nitrofuran group, as well as during lactation, with congenital insufficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, and renal failure. The drug "Furagin" is contraindicated in infants up to seven days of life. Do not prescribe a medicine for polyneuropathy of any nature, as well as in the thirty-eighth to forty-second week of pregnancy.
Overdose
Acceptance of an increased dose of the drug "Furagin" is manifested by nausea, peripheral polyneuritis, psychosis, dizziness, depression, headaches. Allergic reactions of a pronounced nature are also likely (urticaria, angioedema, bronchospasm). In patients suffering from congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, an overdose of the drug "Furagin" provokes megaloblastic or aplastic anemia. As a therapy, they provoke vomiting, gastric lavage is performed.
Interaction with other drugs
The bacteriostatic effectiveness of the drug "Furagin" is reduced when combined with nalidixic acid.
Drugs "Probenecid", "Sulfpirazone" and other uricosuric medicines reduce the concentration of the drug in the urine (which is the reason for the lack of a therapeutic result), at the same time increase its level in the blood serum (as a result of which a toxic reaction may occur). Absorption of the drug "Faragin" from the digestive system is reduced when combined with antacids containing magnesium trisilicate.
