Urolesan was synthesized in the 70s by Ukrainian pharmaceutical scientists, who later received the State Prize for its creation.
The drug is prescribed for various kidney diseases, both acute and chronic, urinary tract infections, inflammation of the gallbladder (cholecystitis), urolithiasis and cholelithiasis. As part of complex therapy, "Urolesan" is prescribed for chronic prostatitis.
The composition of the drug
The composition of the drug as active components includes only natural plant extracts (hop cones, wild carrot seeds, oregano) and oil (fir, peppermint and castor oil). The instructions to "Urolesan" must list various excipients, which are indispensable in the manufacture of medicines. Among them, depending on the form of drug release, there may be lactose, starch, magnesium carbonate, ethyl alcohol, sugar syrup, citric acid.
The action of "Urolesan" on the body
Due to the corresponding properties of its active components, Urolesan (analogues of the drug have a similar effect on the body) has an antispasmodic, antiseptic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and also mild sedative effect. The drug enhances bile formation, has a diuretic effect. Its vasodilating effect is known, as well as the ability to remove stones (stones and sand) from the kidneys, gall and urinary bladders. There is evidence that Urolesan is effective in treating bronchitis and relieves bronchospasm, and it is also known about the successful use of the drug in cardiology.
Urolesan: release forms
The line of drugs "Urolesan" presents three forms of the drug. Initially, the drug was produced only in the form of drops, which are recommended for use on a piece of sugar, since the taste of the drug is quite specific - mainly because of the Siberian fir oil in its composition. Currently, capsules have been added to the usual drops - taking this dosage form is, of course, the most convenient option. For children, a form of the drug in the form of a syrup with a pleasant sweet taste is specially developed.
How to apply
In accordance with the instructions, taking the drug "Urolesan", analogues of which will be discussed below, is carried out three times a day on an empty stomach. As for the solution, its single dose for patients over 14 years old is 8-10, and for children from 7 years old - 5-6 drops. The drug is applied via a dropper to a sugar slice and absorbed in the mouth.
In the form of a syrup, adults take 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of the drug. Its purpose is allowed for children from 1 year, but the dose for babies up to two years is 1-2 ml. From 2 to 7 years, the drug can be taken in an amount of 2-4 ml, from 7 to 14 - 4-5 ml three times a day. Tablets (capsules) are used in the treatment of patients older than 14 years. Patients should take them one at a time three times a day.
It should be noted that in case of colic (hepatic or renal), the dose of the drug can be doubled. The effect of the drug appears after 20-30 minutes, reaching maximum efficiency within an hour.
Contraindications, side effects
Like any herbal preparation, Urolesan can cause individual intolerance. It can be allergic reactions, expressed in the form of itching and redness on the skin. Sometimes a reaction from the digestive system in the form of nausea, diarrhea is possible.
You should not take "Urolesan" in tablets with lactose intolerance, in syrup - with diabetes, in the form of drops - with alcoholism. If it is established that calculi in the kidneys or bladder have a diameter of more than 3 mm, then it is better to refrain from taking the drug.
Pregnancy and feeding are not contraindications for taking Urolesan, but in these cases it is better to consult a doctor. This drug is not prescribed for gastritis or gastric ulcer.
Urolesan does not react with other drugs.

As for the drug "Urolesan", its analogues have practically the same indications for use, but not at all identical composition. Such herbal medicines include Cyston and Kanefron. "Cyston", the price of which usually does not exceed 400 rubles. per pack of tablets (100 pcs.), it has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, as well as antispasmodic effects, is widely used to treat pyelonephritis and cystitis. Its very rich composition includes extracts of rare herbs, as well as mummy powder.
"Kanefron" is available in the form of a dragee or alcohol tincture. It contains extracts of centaury herbs, lovage and rosemary. It has antiseptic, antispasmodic, diuretic properties. It is used to prevent the formation of stones in the urinary system.
