The film "Blade Runner 2049", the reviews of which are in this article, is a fantastic picture of the popular Canadian director Denis Villeneuve. The producer was Ridley Scott. The tape is based on the famous novel by Philip C. Dick, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" The film is an actual continuation of the 1982 film. It was released in wide hire in October 2017.
Blade Runner
The film Blade Runner 2049, reviews of which can be found in this article, was shot primarily for fans of the 1982 Ridley Scott masterpiece.
That film was simply called Blade Runner. In it, events took place in Los Angeles in 2019. By that time, humanity was divided into several classes. These are people and replicants. The latter are genetic engineering products. Outwardly, they are indistinguishable from ordinary people, but exist in the position of slaves, they perform the most dirty and dangerous work. They work in mines or stand on a panel. People regard them as second-class beings, while the latest replicant models are beginning to significantly outperform their creators in intelligence and physical strength.
To prevent replicants from getting out of control, their lifespan is limited to four years. Some individuals, not wanting to put up with a similar state of affairs, take to the run to find ways to extend life. Such robots are being destroyed. For this, a special unit is being created in the police.
Opposing extermination, replicants systematically rebel against people. As a result, their use is permitted only in colonies outside the Earth.
The plot of the new film
On the film "Blade Runner 2049" the first reviews received positive. Events in the picture unfold in 2049. Replicants are integrated into society as slaves. The main character is Kay (played by Ryan Gosling). This is the latest model of a modified person who is in the service of the Los Angeles police. He tracks down single replicants. Kay lives with his virtual holographic girlfriend named Joy.
After another riot, Kay begins an investigation, which leads him to the farm. In the fray, he takes the life of a rogue leader named Sapper Morton, and also finds a mysterious box buried in the ground. Forensic doctors find out that it contains the remains of a female replicant who died as a result of cesarean section complications. This worries everyone around, because it was always believed that replicants could not get pregnant.
Responsible task
Kay receives an order to destroy all the evidence related to this case, because his superiors believe that knowledge of the ability of replicants to reproduce can be dangerous and even lead to war. Including the main character will have to get rid of a child who was born from a female replicant.
Very worried about the order to kill the child, Kay goes to the founder of the corporation for the production of replicants Niander Wallace. He learns from him that the woman who died during Caesarean section was called Rachel. She was an experimental replicant, had a romantic relationship with a veteran - Blade Runner. Like the 1982 film, he is played by Harrison Ford. Wallace sends out a replica action movie named Love for Kay. His task is to find Rachel’s child. Wallace himself expects to take advantage of the ability of replicants to reproduce.
At the farm that started it all, Kay finds a mysterious date carved on a dry tree trunk. Near the spot where Rachel’s remains were found. Surprisingly, this date exactly matches Kay’s childhood recollection of the toy wooden horse he had. It was cut exactly the same date. Over time, Kay finds this toy in a children's corner in the same place where he left it many years ago. Then he realizes that his memories are real, and not implanted, as he believed before.
Kay Joy's virtual girlfriend insists that memories can only mean one thing - Kay is actually a person. Checking this version, they find twins born on the lists. This is a boy and a girl born with identical DNA. However, only a boy is listed as living; the girl is considered dead. The child was raised in an orphanage.
Memories
Kay finds Dr. Stellin, who confirms that it is illegal to program replicants using real people's memories. Then he begins to suspect that he himself is the son of Rachel.
Kay, meanwhile, is failing an empathy test by which replicants are recognized. He justifies himself by completing his mission by destroying the child. He is given two days to disappear. Kay takes Joy with him, recording it on a mobile emitter. He takes risks because if the emitter is damaged, Joy will be permanently removed.
Ruined las vegas
Traces of radiation on the toy lead Kay to Las Vegas, which is in ruins by 2049. There he searches for Deckard, who admits that it was he who falsified the birth records and was forced to leave pregnant Rachel with activists of the replicant freedom movement in order to protect her.
Meanwhile, Love and his assistants look for Kay. In a fight, he is seriously wounded, they throw him to die, destroying previously the device on which Joy is recorded. But Kay still remains to live. He is being rescued by members of the replicant freedom movement. It turns out that they also watched him. Their leader, Freyce, admits that he was mistaken in believing that Kay plays a unique role in the liberation movement. In fact, Rachel was born a girl.
In addition, Freyce advocates preventing the actions of Wallace, who seeks to reveal the secret of the replicants' breeding.
The finale of the picture
In reviews of the movie "Blade Runner 2049", many say that they were struck by the finale. At the end of the tape, Deckard meets with Wallace. He believes that Rachel’s feelings for him were programmed to check if the replicant could have a baby. Therefore, he refuses to cooperate with the corporation. Wallace orders to torture Deckard to get all the necessary information from him.
When Deckard is transported, Kay attacks the motorcade. He knocks down two cars with guards, forcing a third to land. In a shootout, he kills the remaining guards and the pilot himself.
It remains only Love. Kay has a hand-to-hand fight with him. The main character gets seriously injured, but still wins and kills the action movie. After that, he staged the death of Deckard to save him from the replicants and Wallace, who pursue them. The denouement of the picture comes in Stellin’s office. Kay is sure that she is the daughter of Deckard and Rachel.
Reviews on the movie "Blade Runner 2049"
Viewers who saw the tape in movie theaters claim that this is an incredibly beautiful futuristic thriller. Skillful and professional directorial work is visible in it, literally every shot is thought out. All this is seriously mesmerizing, forcing you to watch without looking up from the screen.
In the reviews of the film "Blade Runner 2049", among the positive aspects, many noted an unpredictable plot. When after the first half hour it seems that everything is obvious and predictable, everything is turned upside down. Spectators are waiting for a fascinating surprise, the scriptwriters worked wonderfully, abandoning the concept of the story of a chosen hero. Although Gosling was the best suited for this role.
In general, the film is very atmospheric, so those who watched the movie "Blade Runner 2049" 4dx, the reviews were most enthusiastic.
Author cinema
Canadian director Denis Villeneuve earned many positive reviews. The movie "Blade Runner 2049" is a non-standard fantasy action movie. It is closer to author's cinema with its unhurried narration and very lengthy timekeeping. The tape lasts two hours and 40 minutes.
This was to be expected from Villeneuve, who had shot the psychological detective “The Enemy” before, in which the main character finds on the videotape with an unknown film the actor as two drops of water similar to himself, and the detective thriller “Prisoners” about the abduction of two girls on Thanksgiving. Feedback from viewers about the movie "Blade Runner 2049", who knew who Villeneuve was, was extremely positive.
Acting
We should also mention acting work. Viewers of the film "Blade Runner 2049" in the reviews noted that the casting was meticulous, the actors were selected very accurately.
The lead role went to two-time Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling for Ryan Fleck's drama "Semi-Nelson" and the comedy musical Demien Chazelle's "La La Land".
Success can be considered the fact that the creators attracted an actor who played a major role in 1982's Blade Runner. Oscar nominee Harrison Ford (for Peter Weir’s melodramatic thriller Witness) brilliantly played his part 35 years later.
In reviews of the movie "Blade Runner 2049" the play of the Dutch actress Sylvia Hooks is often mentioned. She got the role of the action movie Love.
Actors of the film "Blade Runner 2049" reviews of the audience deserved mostly positive.
And this is not surprising. For example, the owner of the corporation, Nyander Wallace, was played by an Oscar winner Jared Leto. He received this award for Best Supporting Actor in a drama by Jean-Marc Vallee, Dallas Buyers Club.
Negative reviews
About the film "Blade Runner 2049" the audience was also negative. Some argued that this was just a meaningless and unnecessary sequel, shot by Villeneuve, who began his career as a director of low-budget art-house paintings.
There was also an opinion that in modern cinema, post-production is much more important than the essence of the picture. And the famously promoted "Blade Runner 2049" (the reviews about him before the premiere were positive) turned out to be an unintelligible dummy.
The character of Ryan Gosling seemed to many a dull and poorly prescribed hero, who is frankly boring to watch.
Critic reviews
About the film "Blade Runner 2049" reviews were left not only by the audience, but also by film critics. Specialists in the field of cinema mostly liked the film.
Famous domestic film critic Anton Dolin noted that this is not the most expensive and potentially most successful Hollywood blockbuster of this year, but, of course, the most anticipated one. In the film "Blade Runner 2049", according to critics, a unique unhurried and attractive atmosphere was created. In addition, it is an incredibly beautiful and epic tape. She talks about the dark future of humanity. At the same time, many of the topics that are addressed in it have something in common with the first part, shot by Ridley Scott.
After watching the movie "Blade Runner 2049", critics praised the camera work of cameraman Roger Dickins, already working with Villeneuve, as well as constantly filming with his brothers Cohen, Edward Zwick, Sam Mendes, Michael Redford. He worked with the Cohen brothers in almost all of their films - “Long live Caesar,” “Old Men Can't Be Here,” “Big Lebowski,” “Fargo,” “The Man Who Was Not There.”
It is possible to create an appropriate atmosphere for the film thanks to composers Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfish.
