One had only to recall the melody playing at the beginning of the Russian television show "Village of Fools", as the mood itself increased, and the dumb jokes of the heroes only strengthened the overall impression. Many liked this series, but there were also opponents who considered it unfunny and even stupid. However, sometimes, after a long and hard working day, something light and funny was just missing, in such situations the Pun was saved.
Program History
Like any other show, Pun has a story. The creation of the program was preceded by the unification of comic trios and duets into a single team called Full House.
The first series of television shows were released in 1996, but not one channel was eager to show at least one of them. Nevertheless, 12 episodes were released in Kharkov, but then the telecomix was called “Full House” and did not have much hype. After a clear failure, the project’s director general, Irina Kozyr, turned to her old acquaintance Eduard Verkhoturov with a proposal to become a program director. The man immediately accepted the offer and began to pull the Full House out of the pit. And Yuri Stytskovsky, who at that time was not only a director, but also a host of the show, helped him.
"Full House" vs "Village of Fools"
At first, 5 out of 12 episodes were completely re-shot and released, and the boring name “Full House” turned into an interesting and funny “Pun: Village of Fools”. Later, when the program gained popularity, releases began to be filmed in Odessa, along with the location, the producer also changed, this time it was Yuri Volodarsky. The series went on ORT, in four years of endless work, about 90 issues of “Village of Fools” were released!
New Age - New Residence
With the beginning of the new century, the program was updated, it again moved, but to a different channel, the producer explained such a move as financial gain. In December 2000, "Pun" began to be released on RTR, about 40 episodes were shot in a year!

Guess which program contains the best comedians of the former USSR? Fans of good humor will need a second to understand that this is the "Village of Fools." The actors gathered here are only the best, deserved and talented.
Of which only the most unexpected heroes we did not meet on the screen of our favorite show: a bear, a pilot, a village woman, and a stewardess. Moreover, the listed images are only a small part of the favorite characters that were performed by the same people, however, in different scenes. The irreplaceable leader, cook, funny and even a little crazy crew commander is Yuri Stytskovsky, who skillfully plays his part. Now this actor continues his activities and acts in films.
Another wonderful character is a sailor who was either always intoxicated (remember how cleverly he swallowed the moonshine), or was a little “out of his mind”. The only thing that can be said for sure is that Vadim Nabokov played it wonderful. The fool sailor was not only one of the funniest characters in the program, but also a favorite hero of many. Also, this actor played ordinary Zhrankel, the radio operator Morse, who under no circumstances showed his emotions, and the Regular.
Tatyana Ivanova - the pearl of the "pun", a lady of all trades. In the show, she played a waitress, a stewardess, who does not “sway” what is happening on the plane, and a woman in the same village. And even despite the fact that a woman, by definition, cannot be a good comedian by definition, Tatyana played her roles at the highest level, destroying all prejudices about female humor with each series.
Sergei Gladkov is another comedian who clearly showed his talent in the image of a loser, holding a bar, dispatcher, private Drankel and that same mustachioed man with a red nose. All these characters gave us positive emotions and a sea of laughter.
The last artist on the list, but not the least, is Alexei Agopyan. We remember him in the role of the inventive pilot Drinkins, who is constantly trying to save the situation and take the plane out of the “steep peak”.
Having understood the actors and fully aware of their talent, you involuntarily understand that this is more likely a village of talented and educated comedians than a village of fools. The actors of this show are still continuing their activities, however, not on such a scale.
Why did the "Village of Fools" cease to exist?
The program (unfortunately) ended its existence in 2001, later on television it was shown only replays or some shots from the series. The reasons for this are still unknown, because one of the most popular shows was precisely the “Village of Fools”. Actors believe that everything was to blame for financial difficulties.
"Pun" is still "played" on some channels, viewers are happy to watch this famous show in its time. One of the reasons why the "Village of Fools" became famous is the actors. But, alas, even their colossal talent was not enough for the series to last longer.
