Skins is a dramatic British television series about the lives of teenagers aged 16-18 living in Bristol. The project was created on the initiative of television writers Brian Elsley and his son Jamie Brittan at the request of Company Pictures. The premiere took place on E4 in January 2007. Filming took place mainly in Bristol, and individual school scenes were filmed at the College of Filton and the D. Cobot Academy.
Description
“Dairymen” (the actors of this instant series have gained popularity among teenagers) - the project is psychologically complex and quite realistic. Its storyline contains deep meaning. The creators intentionally are not limited to the same characters and periodically change heroes, calling every two seasons a generation. During the seven seasons of the television series "Duckbills," the actors changed three times. Each new series focuses on a separate character. Thanks to this structure, each episode differs from others in its atmosphere, mood and plot. The authors intentionally show the life of young people without embellishment: the viewer is shown reality, which in some moments is somewhat hyperbolized. The characters are very close to modern youth. The work of the group of directors and scriptwriters is worthy of the highest praise, and another huge plus in the series is the musical accompaniment.
First generation
The stunning game of very young actors does not cease to amaze the viewer throughout all seven seasons. The first generation of the series “Duckweed” is no exception, the actors of which for two seasons have successfully tried to create vivid images.
- Tony Stonem (actor Nicholas Holt) is a smart, attractive and quite popular young man among his peers. He is the "catalyst" in most of the events that take place, although his manipulations sometimes go unnoticed by the environment.
- Sid Jenkins (actor Mike Bailey) - the exact opposite of Tony, but at the same time - his best friend. The guy is notorious, not self-confident, often has difficulty learning, is shy.
- Michelle Richardson, the girl Tony (the performer of the role - April Pearson) may seem superficial at first glance, however she studies diligently and is a more mature person in comparison with those around her.
- Casey Ainsworth (actress Hannah Murray) - an eccentric girl, Michelle's girlfriend, suffers from eating disorders.
- Chris Miles (actor Joseph Dempsey) is a favorite of girls, the king of parties with a difficult fate. He is passionately, madly in love with psychology teacher Angie.
Minor, but no less important
None of the other characters are superfluous in the series “Duckweed” (season 1). The actors who played secondary roles are also wonderful, because they create an integral picture of the plot.
- Jal Fazer (performer - Larissa Wilson) is a talented clarinet player and a very sensible girl.
- Maxi Oliver (actor Mitch Hewer) draws well and loves to dance. Although he is a gay character, he belongs rather to the male half of the company than to the girlish one.
- Anwar Kharral (the performer of the role of Dev Patel) is Maxi's best friend, he is extremely flexible in practicing Islam: he uses alcohol and drugs.
Second generation. Highlights
The actors, which will be listed below, created the due thrilling atmosphere of the series “Dairymen” with inspiration. Among them, it is necessary to mention the following:
- Elizabeth "Effie" Stonem (actress Kaya Scodelario) - Tony's sister, a born leader, beautiful and popular. At the same time, she is too restrained, even secretive, keeps all her problems in the strictest confidence.
- Pandora Moon (actress Lisa Beckwell) is Elizabeth's best friend. Unlike Effie, the girl is innocent, and she is not yet mired in the world of sex and drug dope, but she is eager to fix it.
- Thomas Tomone (actor Marvil Luciba) is a guy from Congo, stands out for his kindness and high moral principles, is in love with Pandora.
Environment
Framing the central characters served as six more prominent heroes of the series “Duckweed”. Actors and roles for them were selected by the directors very carefully.
- James Cook (performed by Jack O'Connell), JJ Jones (Ollie Barbieri) and Freddie McClair (actor Luc Pascualino) are best friends, they have known each other since childhood. Cook is not afraid of power, sociable and charismatic, dissolute. Freddy is more calm and responsible, enjoys skateboarding, and sometimes likes to smoke weed.
- Emily Fitch (actress Katherine Prescott) and Katie (Megan Prescott) are twins, outwardly similar as two drops, but very different in character.
The third generation of the series "Duckweed". Actors and roles
The third generation of the series was perceived ambiguously by both film critics and the audience. The claims were diverse: the characters became dumber, and the storyline itself was uninteresting, stuffed with templates. But nevertheless, the project did not lose its relevance, "leaving" in the wake of the success that the first episodes received. After the release of the series “Duckweed” (season 3), the actors who took part in the work on the project instantly became popular.
- Frankie Fitzgerald (Dakota Blue Richards) is a frank outsider, despite being a creative and smart girl. Because of her androgynous dressing for others, she seems strange.
- Alo Krivi (Will Merrick) is an optimist, a simple guy living on a farm.
- Rich Hardback (Alexander Arnold) - Alo's friend, completely immersed in the subculture of metalworkers.
- Charismatic Mini McGuinness, charming Grace Violet and direct Liv Malone (performed by actresses Freyia Mayor, Jessica Sula and Leah Lewis) are the best friends.
- As well as Nick Levan (Sean Teal), his older brother Matty (Sebastian De Souza) and gay Alex Henley (Sam Jackson).
Seventh season
The creators decided to end the series with a kind of epilogue. In the last season, every two episodes, the viewer has the opportunity to get acquainted with the fate of three characters after graduation. Naturally, the heroes grew up, their problems became more serious. They are far from being dairy farmers.
