History
The Drama Theater (Samara), a photo of the building of which is presented in this article, has existed since 1851. It was then that a permanent professional troupe appeared in the city. In 1888, a new stone building was built for her. The theater is still located in it. This is a beautiful building in the Russian style, reminiscent of a tower or even a palace. It was built by the architect M. Chichagov.
The Drama Theater (Samara) was the first in the country to stage performances based on the works of Maxim Gorky. It was completely named state and stationary in 1926. During the Second World War, the repertoire mainly consisted of military-themed productions. The troupe traveled with concerts in support of homeland defenders and home front workers. In the 50s, the Drama Theater (Samara) went on tour to Moscow, where his performances were a great success. In 1977, he received the title of academic. In the 90s, such famous directors as D. Kaplen and Dmitry Astrakhan collaborated with the troupe. Today, the Samara drama takes an active part in festivals and competitions, as well as actors go on tour in Russia and abroad.
