Studio Walt Disney, filming a project for Channel One about the lives of schoolchildren, their parents and teachers, invited the curious creative union - the Presnyakov brothers and Andrei Boltenko, to take the responsible post of director. It was they who were destined to shoot 9 episodes of the series "After School". The actors invited to participate in the filming are known and beloved by the domestic audience: Mikhail Porechenkov, Fedor Bondarchuk, Alexander Gordon and others.
Antipodes
If you try to list the school TV series ever broadcast on Channel One, the TV movie of Valeria Gai Germanicus “The School” will come to mind right away, which at one time literally blew up the air and provoked heated and irreconcilable discussions. As it turned out, the film "School" and the series "After School" were conceived and filmed almost simultaneously and were positioned as antipodes, so the name of the second has a double meaning. However, a series of unforeseen changes occurred in the production process, as a result of which the filming dragged on for a long four years.
The fruit of co-creation
The film "After School" was created by an interesting creative union. In addition to the director of the Moscow Eurovision show contest, television director Andrei Boltenko, famous representatives of the “new drama”, writers of the scenes of I. Dykhovich’s “Europe-Asia”, M. Porechenkov’s “Day D” and plays “Depicting a Victim” were also involved in production and "Terrorism" - the Presnyakov brothers. They wrote the script for the series “After School”, the actors and the roles of the television project were also selected for each other with their direct participation, since the Presnyakovs also appeared in the role of co-organizers.
The product of this co-creation of an arthouse with a masscult contains all the parental qualities, combining the television brilliance of the visual component with plot twists and monologues, saturated with wonderful, sometimes rolling to the point of absurd humor. This is how the series “After School” appears before the viewer.
Fairy tale come true
The plot of the television project is built at the intersection of three circles of relations: the world of children (schoolchildren), the world of the teaching staff of the school and the world of the parent community. The story unfolds in the near future, so it can be called a fairy tale come true. The series "After School", the actors of which, embodying the idea of the creators, demonstrated the full range of acting, is divided into nine episodes. Each is individually named after one of the teenage students, and the plot is built through the prism of his relationship with himself and the world.
The indisputable core, according to critics, was the extravagant Frida, who was embodied on the screen by the daughter of Ksenia Rappoport Aglaya Tarasova. Passing the casting to shoot the picture “After School”, the actors directly communicated with the authors of the project, who sometimes, as in the case of Aglaia Tarasova, corrected the characters' images to the texture of the selected artists.
Acting Ensemble
Actors starring in a different plan were shot in the series “After School”:
- Sergey Shakurov. Soviet and Russian theater and film actor played the role of the director of the school. The artist collaborated with great domestic directors: Andrei Konchalovsky, Nikita Mikhalkov, Peter Todorovsky. His filmography is so impressive and diverse that there is no doubt in his professionalism.
- Mikhail Porechenkov, who gained fame after the release of the “National Security Agent,” embodied the character of the physical education teacher in the project.
- Mikhail Trukhin - lieutenant (after - captain and major) Volkov from the series "Streets of Broken Lights". He played a dashing Trudovik (teacher of labor training).
- Ksenia Rappoport was transformed into a deputy. Director of Spanish
- Alexander Gordon tried on the role of an English teacher.
Actors: A. Seteykin, E. Shlyanda, M. Lustin, A. Tarasova, A. Fandeev and other representatives of talented youth played the roles of students in the film “After School”.
There are cameos in the series, filled with recognizable "media faces." For example, the skater Ilya Averbukh played not only himself, but also his chauffeur. In one of the episodes of the project Oleg Skripka, frontman of the group “Vopli Vidoplyasova”, appeared.
Summary
When watching a television movie, it becomes clear that the creators have perfectly studied both the complete list of interests of Russian teenagers and the well-proven American youth series. On the whole, the project is a mixture of sitcom episodes, music videos of domestic and foreign music videos, passions boiling around ongoing in-school sports competitions, features of the national mentality, and this cocktail is generously seasoned with a fair amount of impudence. According to Konstantin Ernst, the beholder just needs to relax and enjoy the viewing, since “After School” turned out to be a nervous and paralytic thing.
