A realistic blockbuster about the misfortunes of climbers “Everest” (the plot will be presented in this publication) directed by Balthasar Kormakur will tell the viewer a tragic story with the elements in a paramount role and Hollywood stars in the supporting roles.
Climb history
A brief description of the film "Everest" is impossible without spoilers, however, who knows the real story, the outline of the picture of secrets will not open. The scenario narrative was based on the events of the first in the history of mountaineering existence of commercial conquering of a mountain peak by several groups, undertaken in 1996. Naturally, the training of the participants was insufficient, the weather conditions were unsuitable, as a result, the leaders of both groups and 8 participants died, one survivor remained disabled. So I met self-taught climbers Everest. The description of the film shot by Kormakur on this tragedy is rather difficult to compile, since the narrative violates all genre cliches, and you can arrange accents as you like. Some viewers will watch enthusiastically the fate of the survivors while watching others, the climbing process itself, which turned into a collapse, is more important, the reasons for what will happen are the third.
Causes
The film "Everest", the description of which is permeated with genuine drama, is not the only adaptation of the tragedy that happened. In 1997, the book of the surviving Krauker was filmed in the title role with Christopher MacDonald, in 2007 a documentary tape was shot about the same events. And in 2015, the Icelander Baltazar Kormakur, known to the viewer for the action movie “Two Trunks” and other brisk films, took up his interpretation of the tragedy that happened at the peak of Everest. The description of the film, an elegant new game version, also includes plot melodramatic branches: the story of the pregnant wife of one of the participants, problems in the family of the other, and the moral state of the third, who feels free only at an unnamed height.
Plot
Events unfold in the early spring of 1996, during this period several groups at once began to plan the conquest of the summit of Mount Everest. Description of the film introduces the audience to the leader of the first group - Rob Hall (Jason Clark), a good-natured native of New Zealand, and his pregnant wife, performed by Keira Knightley, awaiting her husband's return home.
Hollon's group is rather motley: John Krauker (Michael Kelly), an Outside reporter, a private postman (John Hawks), an impudent Texan cowboy (Josh Brolin) and a seasoned mountain climber from Japan (Naoko Mori), who managed to visit all six Mount Everests the last seventh, the most dangerous in the Everest mountain system.
The description of the central characters will continue the acquaintance with the second group, led by Scott Fisher (actor Jake Gyllenhaal) - a starry hamovat climber abusing whiskey. On the fateful day, May 11, having passed the preliminary training, thrill-seekers began their journey, climbing the southern slope of Everest. Both commercial groups triumphantly completed the ascent and triumphantly began the descent from the top, but then a violent storm broke out, as a result of which almost all adventurers died.
Minimalist drama
First-class screenwriters - William Nicholson (Gladiator) and Oscar-winning Simon Bofoy (Slumdog Millionaire), as well as a strong acting ensemble were involved in the film adaptation of the literary source. It was they, under the strict guidance of the director Kormakur, who were supposed to convey to the viewer the truth about the sad climb to Everest. The film’s description scantily reveals the characteristics of the characters, however, they are rather stereotyped, and their relationship is almost conflict-free, although the real events that formed the basis of the picture provided more significant opportunities in this direction. But thanks to such authorial minimalist dramaturgy, the blockbuster manages to maintain his dignity and appear before the viewer not as a passing disaster film, but as a fascinating narrative of fortitude and despair. There is nothing superfluous in the cinema - only a hopeless blizzard, extremely necessary dialogues, dizzying beautiful types of crevices and a grandiose image of Everest. It is the mountain range that is the main character, whom travelers challenge, but in the end result they still lose. But in the demonstration of this fatal battle blockbuster "Everest" entertainment is not to occupy.
