The drug "Arbidol" - composition, instructions for use

The medicine "Arbidol" is an antiviral and immunomodulating drug, an inducer of the synthesis of interferon. The therapeutic effect of this drug in viral infections is to reduce the manifestations of general intoxication and the clinic, reducing the duration of the disease.

The release form of the drug "Arbidol", composition

Tablets with a shell, white or with a slightly creamy shade of color, have a biconvex shape. 1 tablet contains the active substance - multicomponent ethyl ester of carboxylic acid - 100 mg and additional ingredients in the composition: potato starch, methyl cellulose, aerosil, calcium stearate, sugar, magnesium basic carbonate , polyvinylpyrrolidone, flour, talc, titanium dioxide pigment, beeswax.

Pharmacological action of the drug "Arbidol"

The composition of the drug determines its antiviral activity, which consists in immunomodulating and anti-influenza action, specific suppression of influenza viruses from group A and B. The antiviral effect of the drug "Arbidol", the description given in the instructions, explains its interferon-inducing property; we stimulate the humoral and cellular reactions of the immune system, as well as the phagocytic function of macrophages.

The composition of the ingredients included in the Arbidol medicine is capable of:

  • not give a course to the development of post-influenza complications;
  • prevent exacerbations of chronic diseases;
  • normalize the immunological status of the body.

Antiviral activity is due to counteraction to the fusion of the viral membrane with cell membranes, due to which the cell does not become infected with the virus.

Due to the fact that the composition of the ingredients in the Arbidol preparation helps to reduce the level of intoxication and the intensity of catarrhal symptoms, shorten the duration of the fever and, in general, the total time of the disease, this medicine is very effective in case of flu. The drug is a low toxicity agent. No adverse effects of Arbidol on the body systems are known when taken in therapeutic doses.

Indications

Used for prevention and treatment in children and adults: influenza A and B, in addition, SARS, including with complications in the form of bronchitis and pneumonia; with secondary immunodeficiency conditions.

In complex therapy for chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, and also when recurrent herpetic infection occurs; for the prevention of postoperative complications of an infectious nature and the normalization of the immune system in adults.

The medicine "Arbidol" - instructions

The tablets are taken orally before meals.

The drug is given for the prevention of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections in doses from 50 mg to 200 mg / day once a day for a half to two weeks.

The therapeutic dose (daily) is four times higher than the prophylactic one. But, at the same time, not a single dose is increased, but the number of doses of the drug, i.e. the same dose is given not once, but four times a day for five days. Then a single dose is given once / week. for 3-4 weeks.

The size of a single dose is determined by the age of the patient - for young children under 6 years of age it is minimal (50 mg), for children under 12 years of age the higher dose is 100 mg and for children over 12 years of age and adults the maximum dose is 200 mg.

It is not allowed to use with hypersensitivity; children under 3 liters.
