Many of us have tried Caesar salad in cafes and restaurants. A simple dish, consisting of several ingredients, owes half its popularity to a deliciously delicious dressing. This is because the classic Caesar sauce recipe contains about a dozen ingredients, the combination of which gives it a unique taste. To recreate the recipe itself at home is quite difficult. Not all of us in the refrigerator have, for example,
Worcestershire sauce, anchovies and
Dijon mustard, but these components can be purchased today in large supermarkets.
Classic Caesar Sauce Recipe
For it you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 raw egg yolk;
- 4 anchovies are small dried fish;
- a pair of garlic cloves;
- a teaspoon of salt and the same amount of ground black pepper;
- 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce;
- 150 ml of quality olive oil, best Extra Virgin;
- a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 50 g of grated Parmesan cheese.
First, whisk the egg yolk, salt and mustard in a deep bowl with a whisk. Then add a little olive oil to them. You should end up with a mixture with the consistency of mayonnaise. After that, add lemon juice, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and crushed anchovies to the mass. Pour the
grated Parmesan
cheese at the very end. The classic recipe for Caesar sauce, although it requires, as we already mentioned, quite unusual ingredients for us, but they make it so tasty and unusual. Any vegetable salad, and not just Caesar with chicken or seafood, will be delicious if you generously pour it with such dressing.
How to make Caesar sauce easier: recipe with photo
If you donβt have mustard or Worcestershire sauce on hand, then salad dressing can be prepared without them, it will turn out just as tasty. Take:
- a quarter cup of mayonnaise;
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice;
- 3 cloves of garlic;
- grated Parmesan - a third of a glass;
- a couple of dried anchovies;
- half a glass of olive oil;
- black pepper and salt.

Squeeze the garlic, combine it with mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and ground black pepper, as well as chopped anchovies. For mixing, you can use a blender, mixer or just whisk everything in a bowl with a whisk until smooth. When ready, pour olive oil into the sauce in small portions. Cheese, if desired, can be added at the very end or just sprinkle it with salad on top. Of course, the chefs in restaurants use the classic Caesar sauce recipe for dressing the salad of the same name, but if you take the above cooking method as a basis, your dish will not suffer at all and will be just as tasty. It goes well with a chicken dish - this is a classic version, as well as with shrimps or smoked red fish.
