How do you respond to the message that someone is living on your face? More specifically - a parasite, and more precisely - a tick. Perhaps you will rush to the mirror, begin to feel your face with your hands, and certainly you will angrily refute this probability. And nevertheless, the fact, as they say, is medical - in the vast majority of people (by some estimates - up to 95 percent), a microscopic facial tick lives in the skin. Its scientific name is Demodex folliculorum, although it’s hardly easier for you from such information. In Latin everything sounds beautiful, but a living parasite on the face - what a nasty thing!
Alas, this is the case, and most people do not suspect such “cohabitation” just because facial mites, unlike their more famous forest and bed brothers, rarely find their presence. They settle in the hair follicles (this is the root of the hair with its surroundings) or the sebaceous glands of the hairs on the face, feeds on desquamated cells and does not cause any inconvenience to its owner. But under certain conditions, the facial tick is activated and begins to lead to destructive activity, causing a skin disease, called demodecosis.
What are these conditions? Activation of the sebaceous glands, as a result of which fat and other substances begin to secrete much stronger, creating a nutrient medium for the tick and inducing it to intensive life activity. It bites into deeper layers, causing inflammation of the skin, and multiplies rapidly, which leads to a rapid increase in the affected area. As a result, at first there are unpleasant itchy sensations, then a rash, spots, which, merging and sliding, form ugly tuberous growths. And the longer this process continues, the worse the face of a sick person looks, therefore, if you find something similar to the symptoms of demodicosis, consult a doctor. And do not fall into despair if this is really a facial tick - treatment exists, and in most cases, if it is carried out correctly, comprehensively and consistently - it gives good results.
Now about the same symptoms that you should pay attention to, especially during puberty of adolescents, during which the intense work of hormones activates the glands. The notorious youthful acne and acne are often just a manifestation of demodicosis. A face that has turned pale or has acquired an earthy gray tint , red spots on it are another symptom. As well as increased oily skin, and enlarged pores. The face may itch and itch, especially towards evening and with the onset of night pores, when the facial tick is most active. At later stages, tuberous skin, the formation of scar tissue, and growths indicate demodicosis.
Despite the fact that many different preparations, creams and ointments are now offered, positioned as a reliable tool in the fight against facial mites, it is strongly not recommended to try to heal yourself. The same applies to traditional medicine recipes. Not even every doctor, not to mention cosmetologists, can prescribe the right treatment, and some procedures can only harm the skin and aggravate the situation. The approach to getting rid of demodicosis should be thorough, consistent and professional, starting with the fact that the diagnosis should not be made “by eye”, but according to the results of a scraping study from the affected area under a microscope.
Complex therapy includes antibiotic treatment, as well as restoration of immunity and skin cleansing. This is not a very fast process, during which it is also necessary to observe some conditions - to limit contact of the skin with water, washing with the use of special lotions and emulsions, impose a moratorium on visiting a bath or sauna, exclude salty and fatty foods, alcohol and gently from the diet follow other instructions of the dermatologist.
