Diseases of the throat and respiratory tract are familiar to many, especially in autumn and spring. In most cases, physicians prescribe Miramistin for throat irrigation. Its instruction provides for a wide range of applications due to antiviral, antiseptic and bactericidal effects. Simply put, it destroys the membrane of the bacterium and thereby leads to its death.
It is available in the form of a spray or solution. Tasteless clear liquid. To use "Miramistin" the instruction recommends in the following cases:
- with suppuration of wounds (often found in obstetric and surgical practice);
- with deep and superficial burns;
- with inflammation of the female genital organs;
- with fungal infections of the mucous membranes and skin;
- with genital herpes, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis and other diseases that are transmitted sexually;
- with sinusitis, laryngitis, acute and chronic otitis media and tonsillitis;
- in chronic and acute urethritis, urethroprostatitis of non-specific and specific nature;
- with stomatitis, periodontitis, as well as with the hygiene of removable dentures.
The scope of the drug is quite wide, therefore, to some extent, it can even be called universal. Many people prefer the Miramistin spray. Its composition is no different from the composition of the solution and includes benzyldimethyl-3-myristoylamino-propyl ammonium chloride monohydrate, or more simply miramistin. In both cases, there is a concentration of 0.01%.
The instruction recommends dosing the drug "Miramistin" according to the following scheme:
1) As a prophylaxis of diseases transmitted after sexual intercourse - externally, for the treatment of the genitals, pubis and inner thighs. Before use, it is necessary to hold the toilet of the genitals and hands. The solution is administered by injection into the opening of the urinary canal (men - up to 3 ml, women - up to one and a half ml, in the vagina - up to 10 ml). It is necessary to delay the Miramistin solution for a couple of minutes. The instruction recommends not to urinate for 2 hours after treatment. The drug is considered effective if sexual intercourse was performed no later than 2 hours ago.
2) Purulent burns and wounds are treated by applying a bandage of gauze previously moistened in solution.
3) To avoid infection in the area of postpartum injuries, tampons are introduced into the vagina, which are moistened in 50 ml of solution. The tampon is held for 2 hours, the duration of the procedure can be up to 7 days.
4) In the treatment of chronic and acute urethritis, the Miramistin preparation is injected into the urinary canal of 5 ml, up to 3 times a day. The duration of treatment is 5-7 days, subject to complex treatment.
There are no special contraindications to use, unless the patient has sensitivity to the drug component. Side reactions are not ruled out, they manifest as an allergic reaction, a burning sensation may occur in the area of application. But you should not worry about this, because the burning sensation disappears after 10-15 minutes, you should not cancel the drug either.
As for lactating and pregnant women, Miramistin is not contraindicated for them, since the drug has almost no resorption. Treatment with this drug also does not prohibit driving .
Cases of overdose are not recorded.
It should be noted that with parallel use with antibiotic drugs, the resistance of microorganisms to Miramistin decreases.
