Inflammation of the liver is a dangerous disease that carries with it the death of tissue sites and in the worst case, death. Being the largest gland of the human body, it performs a lot of vital functions. One of the most important destinations of the liver is considered to be the protection of the body, manifested in the neutralization of the action of numerous poisons that form during metabolic processes, or ingested with food. With a large number of harmful substances, the work of the organ fails, its functions are violated and this causes an inflammatory reaction.
Inflammation of the liver can be caused by various reasons.
- Hepatotropic viruses. They are distinguished by several species, infection occurs by contact with the virus carrier.
- Alcoholism. The action of ethyl alcohol is detrimental to all body systems, including the liver. Its cells die under the influence of alcohol, fat deposits appear in their place , and the gland does not cope with its protective function.
- Drug poisoning of the liver. In addition to their direct prescriptions, many drugs also have side effects due to the chemical composition. But in this case, when the drug is canceled, the inflammatory process stops.
- Gall stasis. The outflow of bile, which the liver produces, is disturbed, and, stagnant in the organ, it causes the disease.
Inflammation of the liver can be both acute and chronic.
Very dangerous is the acute form. Symptoms are the most pronounced, manifested by pain in the hypochondrium on the right side, dark urine, vomiting, fever. Self-treatment can only aggravate the process and kill valuable time. In such cases, emergency medical care is needed. Untimely appeal to a specialist in acute form often leads to death.
Chronic inflammation proceeds differently, sometimes the symptoms are mild, sometimes more pronounced. The cause of exacerbation may be malaria, alcohol abuse, stagnant masses in the large intestine. Subject to all doctor's prescriptions, home treatment is possible.
Inflammation of the liver is also called viral hepatitis, which has several types:
- viral hepatitis (A, B, C, D);
- hepatitis caused by alcohol or drug poisoning;
- cholestatic hepatitis.
Other inflammatory processes are much less common, for example, parasitic forms such as echinococcosis, liver abscess, and various tumors.
Treatment of liver diseases is prescribed by a doctor and depends on the degree of its damage and on the form of the disease.
Strict preventive measures are recommended to avoid inflammation. This primarily concerns personal hygiene. Hepatitis A viruses, for example, are transmitted during contaminated food intake and are released naturally. Therefore, if the basic sanitary norms are not observed, the causative agents of infection can calmly "walk" to a person nearby.
Another way to enter the body in hepatitis viruses. B, C and D. They are transmitted to a healthy person along with biological fluids of already sick people during a blood transfusion, with repeated use of syringes, during sexual intercourse. Here you can not do without the strict rules of prevention.
Hepatitis A and B can be prevented by vaccination. This primarily applies to people traveling to other countries, especially those countries where outbreaks of infection have been repeatedly observed. When working with blood, the use of gloves is considered a prerequisite; during sexual intercourse it would be appropriate to use protective equipment in the form of a condom.
The doctor prescribes the treatment of liver diseases because it requires special medical knowledge. However, there are several folk recipes that stimulate recovery.
- Daily use of juice of one beet and one radish in a ratio of 1: 1.
- Sauerkraut juice (in the morning for a month).
- Infusion of one tablespoon of dill (daily intake).
And, of course, a healthy lifestyle with a special diet.
