Like all superhumans, he also has an unusual story of birth and life. So, he was born on Black Thursday (10.24.1929), the day the stock market crashed. His mother was a prostitute, and Eric Brooks (the real name of the superhero) was born in a brothel.
The vampire doctor took birth from the mother, who gradually ate her while the boy was born. It was during this that, in some strange way, superpowers were transferred to the baby. He became immune to infection with vampirism, gained unprecedented strength, dexterity and resistance to aging, got the opportunity to smell vampires.
From death during the birth of the baby, the motherβs girlfriends rescued them, who frightened off the killer doctor. They were engaged in the upbringing of the boy until he was nine years old. Despite his abilities, Blade intensively engaged in hand-to-hand combat and mastered the skills of knives.
Once he saved the old man Jamal Afari from three vampires. As it turns out later, he was not only a musician, but also a hunter. It was Afari who taught Eric the features of this "craft." In a series of comics, Blade repeatedly showed his ability to fight the undead.
