- Raw-frozen.
Their preparation among themselves has cardinal differences, given which, you will know how to cook shrimp.
Boil live shrimp
The cooking process in this case largely depends on what you will use it for later. Knowing how to boil shrimp properly will help you prepare a variety of delicious, healthy and inexpensive dishes. If you plan to serve them separately as an independent dish (in shell), then you will need to perform the following actions:
- Put the shrimp in the pan and fill it with water so that it is covered on top by about 5 cm.
- Add salt and mix. Water should be cool salted.
- Throw in a couple of sheets of laurel.
- Take dill and tie a bunch of thread, then throw it into the water with shrimp.
- Put the saucepan on the fire.
- After boiling water, boil the product for about 10-20 minutes. Cooking time depends on the size of the shrimp.
- Turn off the heat and leave the shrimp in a container for another 15 to 20 minutes.
- Pull it out and place it on a platter.
If you need to boil the product for further cleaning and use in the preparation of salads, soups, etc., then the cooking technology changes slightly:
- Water should be salted only slightly.
- Laurel and dill are not added.
- Shrimp can be pulled out of the water immediately after its preparation.
Boil boiled-frozen shrimp in shell and without it
In order to understand the secret to the preparation of this product, you should focus on the method of its preparation. After catching, the shrimps are moved and immediately boiled in sea water, and then undergo a freezing procedure. If the product is lying on the shelf without a shell (we are talking about a small shrimp), this indicates that it has already thawed once. But there are exceptions:
- Shrimp catch in the coastal zone, followed by onshore processing;
- Meat of large shrimp grown on a farm.
How to cook shrimp in this case? In fact, almost the same as fresh ones, only at the beginning they need to be thawed. To do this, just fill them with cold water and let stand for about 20 minutes. Cooking time also changes, now it is only 2 - 5 minutes. If you purchased a peeled shrimp and plan to add it to the salad, then it is advisable to cook it the same way as the one in the shell. To fry, bake or add to the first dishes, it is enough to simply thaw and rinse it.
Boil raw-frozen shrimp
Here, the cooking technology is absolutely no different from that used for live shrimp. The only difference is the beginning of preparation, the product should completely defrost. The cooking time for the shrimp in the shell remains the same, without it, it decreases by 5 minutes. Unfortunately, raw-frozen shrimp is a rarity on the shelves of our stores, but it is more useful in comparison with boiled-frozen.
Now you know how to cook the shrimp properly, no matter how it was harvested. This will help you prepare many different delicious and very healthy dishes with the addition of this product.
