The drug "Trimedat" application instructions refers to a group of antispasmodics. It is produced in the form of tablets, each of which contains two hundred milligrams of trimebutine maleate - the main active substance. Among the auxiliary components are the following: corn starch, talc, lactose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.
The tablets are painted white, their shape is round, biconvex, on one side there is a risk.
The active active ingredient of the drug - trimebutin - regulates intestinal motility, affecting its enkephalinergic system. This component also acts as a stimulant in the case of hypokinetic states of smooth muscle of the intestine, and antispasmodic in case of hyperkinetic.
The drug "Trimedat", the instruction informs, has its effect on the entire gastrointestinal tract, reduces pressure on the sphincter of the esophagus. The medication also favors the activation of intestinal motility and promotes the earliest painless emptying of the stomach.
Trimebutin is able to restore the normal natural activity of the intestinal muscles in various diseases localized in the digestive tract, which are associated with disruptions in motor activity.
The maximum content of the drug in the blood is achieved after one to two hours after oral administration. Bioavailability ranges from four to six percent. It is noted that the active active substance of the drug is able to penetrate in small quantities through the fetoplacental barrier.
Trimebutin undergoes a process of biotransformation in the liver, excreted together with urine, mainly in the form of metabolites (and seventy percent of them leave the body during the first day). The half-life is twelve hours.
The medicine "Trimedat" is indicated for use in the following cases:
- with motor disorders accompanying functional diseases of the gastrointestinal tract ;
- for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease ;
- with dyspeptic disorders, which are symptoms of gastroduodenal diseases;
- for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, which is a functional disease of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by cramping, colic and discomfort in the abdominal cavity, bloating, and stool;
- with paralytic intestinal obstruction after surgery;
- in preparation for endoscopic or radiological examinations of the stomach.
Trimedat tablets for children are used for dyspeptic disorders caused by a violation of the gastrointestinal tract.
The considered pharmaceutical is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the substances that make up its composition. In addition, the medication in this dosage form is not prescribed for patients under the age of twelve.
The drug "Trimedat" (the instruction pays special attention to this) should not be used for therapeutic purposes in the first trimester of pregnancy.
