Lice in a child: how to prevent their occurrence and further spread

Each of us knows that until he faces the problem head on, he will not go deeper and learn about the causes of its occurrence. Therefore, it is not surprising that the appearance of lice in a child can confuse parents. And only then they begin to understand how this could happen.

The most interesting lice in children, as well as in adults, appear regardless of compliance with all hygiene rules or cleanliness and order in the house. So do not complain about yourself. Lice in the head of a child can appear in kindergarten, at school, in a camp or when swimming in a river, after lying on the grass.

As soon as your child has lice, he begins to scratch his head constantly, is a lot of nervous, becomes more irritable, he may also lose his appetite and torment insomnia. On combed areas, abscesses or boils can form. Therefore, it is advisable to check the child’s head from time to time in order to timely see the appearance of nits - eggs of our malicious lice. Finding them is very easy, as they are oblong in shape and attach directly to the base of the hair. To wash off with water or just to squeeze them is impossible.

If your child has brought home lice, you should find the right approach to their treatment. We buy in the pharmacy a special tool containing pyrethrin with piperonyl butoxide. The most important thing before use is to read the instructions. It is best to treat lice in a child with special shampoos, and it is not recommended to use sprays, since when spraying the baby inhales pesticides that are harmful to health.

In addition to conventional methods, there are folk remedies. You can wash your baby’s head with tar or dust soap, it contains a high percentage of alkali. Or rinse your hair with diluted vinegar, but remember that this solution kills lice, but does not kill their eggs.

Head lice: how to get rid of them

  • Rule one: comb your hair with a special and clean comb. It is worth doing this only with a bright lamp above a light sheet to see a fallen louse, if it is in your hair.
  • Once lice are found in a child, treat your hair with a special product that can be purchased without a doctor’s prescription in a pharmacy. Remember, you can use this method only if the problem has already occurred. And it is not at all necessary to do this for the whole family or the whole class, since, in most cases, this leads to the fact that lice get used to the drug. Follow the instructions and consult with the hospital or pharmacy. Women in position and children under two years of age can use such drugs only with the permission of a doctor.
  • After the hair has been treated with the product, it is necessary to comb it constantly, in order to verify the effectiveness of the treatment. Doctors recommend repeating the procedure after one to two weeks, as the nits are quite stable and may not die after the first treatment. You can get rid of them by applying a mixture of vinegar and water on your hair, and then comb well with a scallop, which should also be moistened with vinegar.
  • As soon as you get rid of the nits on your hair, start processing the clothes and bedding of the child. Usually, lice die within half an hour at a temperature of fifty degrees, and nits within one hour. So start the wash. By the way, with a frost of fifty degrees, lice die within half an hour, and nits for four hours. Things that cannot be washed or cold-worked on them should simply be vacuumed. Lice live for fifty hours without food.
  • And most importantly, carefully follow the procedure for getting rid of adversity in order to prevent its reappearance and further spread. Also warn the kindergarten or school that lice have appeared in the child.
