The drug defines Lomexin as an antifungal agent with a wide range of beneficial effects and intended for local use in gynecology. The use of this drug, due to the properties of the active component - a synthetic derivative of imidazole, has a pronounced antibacterial, fungistatic and fungicidal effect. In this case, the drug “Lomexin” (the instructions for it confirms it) is most active in relation to gram-positive pathogenic microorganisms and yeast-like fungi. The action of this fungistatic agent is based on the inhibition of ergosterol synthesis, which is responsible for regulating the permeability of the bacterial membrane.
This antifungal drug is produced mainly in the form of soft yellow vaginal capsules. The composition of suppositories as a main active ingredient includes such a substance as fenticonazole nitrate. It can be contained in the amount of two hundred, six hundred or a thousand milligrams.
Additional ingredients, depending on a particular dosage of the active substance, may be silicon dioxide, triglycerides of fatty acids, gelatin, titanium dioxide, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate sodium, glycerol, propyl parahydroxybenzoate sodium, liquid paraffin, soya lecithin and white petrolatum.
To use vaginal suppositories "Lomeksin" the instruction advises in order to eliminate colpitis, vulvovaginal candidiasis or vaginal discharge. In addition, this antifungal drug is often prescribed for mixed infectious diseases provoked by Candida albicans and, for example, Trichomonas vaginalis. Patients with established vaginal trichomoniasis are also recommended to start using this remedy.
To use the antifungal drug "Lomexin", the instruction recommends, as a rule, once, through the introduction deep into the vagina. However, in cases where the patient has persisted painful symptoms, it is allowed to extend the course of therapy for another maximum of three days.
As for the capsules with a volume of a thousand milligrams, they are allowed to be used exclusively for two days.
The manufacturer strictly prohibits prescribing this antifungal agent if the patient has an allergic reaction to fenticonazole nitrate or is individually intolerant of any of the auxiliary components present in the composition. Persons under the age of eighteen should also not use Lomexin candles. Reviews of doctors and patients are also told about the inadmissibility of their use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
This tool is generally well tolerated by most women. Only in exceptional cases can there be a burning sensation and itching at the place of application of suppositories "Lomexin". The instructions that come with the kit also indicate a slight risk of mild redness due to the use of this antifungal drug.
