How to draw a carpet with a pencil?

A carpet is a woven product that is used to warm or decorate floors and walls. For many centuries, the carpet not only symbolized wealth, but was also considered an object of art, as it was long and painstakingly hand-made. But to draw this subject is far from so difficult. You only need to come up with a design and translate it on paper.

Materials

In order to draw a carpet, you will need to prepare paper, an eraser, a ruler, simple and colored pencils, gouache or watercolor. When working with paints, you need to take thick paper, as well as prepare a container of water and brushes (medium and thin).

How to draw a carpet

Carpets come in a variety of shapes and colors: from plain square to patterned in the form of abstract figures. Therefore, for starters, you need to decide which carpet you want to draw. The most common are rectangular products, and for example, consider them.

Here's how to draw a carpet in pencil in stages:

1. First, make a sketch with a simple pencil and draw the outline of the carpet in the form of an uneven rectangle.
2. We thicken the outline made by drawing another line next to each side.
3. Inside, draw two more rectangles repeating the contour of the carpet, thicken the lines.
4. In the center of the rectangle, draw another quadrangle, inside which we depict a pattern of several curls.
5. On two sides of the rectangle, draw lines with dashes.

After the carpet is drawn, it needs to be painted. To do this, you can use both colored pencils and paints. The color of the carpet can be absolutely any.

How to draw an ornament

Many carpets have some kind of pattern or pattern. But how to draw a carpet with an ornament? To begin, think of what elements the pattern will consist of.

Most often, geometric shapes and natural elements are used for ornament. The main difficulty in drawing an ornament is that the elements of one group must be symmetrical and the same. Therefore, it is better to practice the difficult parts of the pattern with colored pencils on a separate sheet.

For an example, consider how to draw a simple geometric pattern:

1. First, draw a rectangle with a simple pencil.
2. Draw a vertical line through its center. And then divide the figure into three equal elements with horizontal lines.
3. Draw a faint horizontal line through the center of each of these three parts.
4. Inside the large rectangle, make another smaller one to get a kind of frame.
5. In this frame, along the auxiliary lines, draw three rhombuses arranged vertically.
6. Inside each rhombus, draw two more - a smaller one.
7. Now in the corners of the inner rectangle and between the rhombs draw a schematic tree consisting of a vertical line and two dashes on each side.
8. We wipe the excess lines.
9. We make out the "frame" of the carpet using figures in the form of triangles. The first triangle is drawn from bottom to top. We place the second one near, but with the top down, and so we alternate these figures throughout the "frame" of the carpet. In the center of each triangle we put a point.
10. At the edges, add a pile of carpet.

The painted ornament is decorated with paints or colored pencils.
